I enjoyed it. But then again I never really played Gears of War. I have a feeling I'll like Call of Duty: World at War better, it's just more variety. You really just can't be a hero in Gears, 2 on 1 you're going to die.

GoW2 has an "Invite All" feature, and that is the best way to get a full party, so that is why you are getting the invites, just ignore them.

Ordeal is on crack. I am in Act 5 of campaign and the game kicks tons of butt. Horder mode is awesome. I haven't played much Multiplayer online, but that was the only part in the first game lacking. Way too glitchy.
The game is solid. Multiplayer prob has some flaws as the first one did.

Chances are I'll pick up Resistance 2 before GoW2
Both got a 9.5 on IGN
I like Insomiac more than Epic games (There I said it)
And I Play my PS3 more so Resistance 2 would be the better buy for me.
GoW2 will be purchased eventually. And Ordeal to say a game stink/sucks is about as ignorant and ******ed as saying music sucks

I thought Gears 1 was paced better, but Gears 2 was much more action packed. Kind of reminded me of the typical popcorn movie sequel. Of course, that works out better in a video game.
Haven't played the multiplayer yet, though I'm one of the few who prefers a good story mode over multiplayer.

I noticed they didn't change the design of it much, which makes sense.
All the main characters look way too beefy, like they're not even human. And they all sound like jerks. I just wanna smash all their faces in. And the fact it'd be impossible to do makes me wanna do it even more.

Not to defend Ordeal, but this game does have too much BS. For those of you who say they suck at it, that's BS as well. How can you say someone sucks when you shot a guy 3/4 times point blank with a shotgun and they still kill you. How can you say someone sucks when you shoot a guy with a shotgun while he has his chainsaw revved and he still is able to chainsaw you. And if one of these hasn't happened to you at least once yet, it WILL.

almost at the end of the campaign and i am loving it. Yes the pacing is different than GoW1. that one had elements of a horror/survival game while still being primarily an action shooter. This one is full out balls to the wall action adventure. Some of the dialogue is corny (Dom and Carmine) but the rest is fine (well, appropriate to their character).
Multiplayer so far has been fine as well. Horde is great and i can see it eating a ton of my gaming time now. Got to level 29 and even though it was 4AM we wanted to jump right back in and try again. . .addictive. The other MP modes are fine. I have had someone chainsaw me before when i shot them with a shotgun. But every time i died, i knew it was ME being off by a hair, at a slightly wrong angle when i pulled the trigger. If you turn to someone and pull the trigger a hair too early they only get a very small portion of the spread (if any). Every time i knew i had them point blank, they died. So far i have not felt cheated by a kill.

I don't fanboy highly anticipated games because 1/2 of them are going to end up sucking... I judge my games by how epic I feel at the end and what I can do after the end to make me feel like I'm still doing something. The one series that gave me that "epicish" feeling at the end (Really weird yeah but after the game ends I'm like...damn! That type of feeling) has been Legend of Zelda and Gears of War. Gears 2 stands up to that feeling and even though the last boss isn't even what I consider a boss, taking the behemoth like thing amazed me on the inside.

I finally found someone that shares my beliefs...
GoW 1 was terrible. Too short, too dark, too slow! I'm not going to jump on the GoW 2 bandwagon like everyone else unless I try the game and can change my opinion for myself.
And yes, the multiplayer on GoW 1 BLEW! You ran like you were made of concrete, you played on Gridlock all the time and got shotgunned constantly. At least with Halo 3, there's a lot of maps and it's not ALWAYS SHOTGUN. And before I get an 'lol you suk'. I beat GoW's short campaign on Insane... It was okay, just too short to justify my $60.

Something apparently a few people on here do not understand about Gears of War2. The programming of the engine was re-vamped to make the shotgun less of a 'go-to' gun, and Gears of War2 is currently the game which I see as to require the most team-work and strategy to be truly effective. If you were a fan of the run-and-gun style of gears1, you are not going to like Gears of War 2, because while it still has the very fast-paced action multiplayer like Gears1, this requires quick strategic thinking, while coinciding with the moves of your teammates, suppressive and cover fire are essential, as well as moving to downed teammates as quickly as possible so that no one part of your squad begins to fall apart. Wingman, also, to he who said it was a "Shotgun Camp-Fest," you are incorrect. The way the wingman game mode's scoring is set-up, is designed so that campers will rarely win. You get 1 point for each kill, and one point if you survive the round, therefore, if a Team kills 5 people, loses one of its members, and then the final member left gets killed by the camping team, the camping team has 2 points, while the other team has 5. In wingman survival should be lower on the list of a team's concerns, getting kills quickly and effectively, and making sure the lead team does not kill them are much more important. Also, for those complaining that they are getting chainsawed after they shoot someone with a shotgun. They shotgun has been changed to shoot a spray of a few bullets, in an almost random spread, the bullets individually will do hardly any damage. To stop a chainsaw you must do a considerable bit of damage, which is understood, because if you were on a path to kill someone, (with all your armor on) a few bullet shots would not phase you. Another way to avoid being chainsawed is to dive to the side. The chainsaw has been fixed so that chainsawing to the side, or around corners is much, much more difficult. There may also be complains that someone did not enter into a chainsaw battle, while they knew they had their chainsaw revved, this is probably due to the fact that you were not facing the person with your chainsaw. The Lancer's saw has been made into a direct weapon, rather than a peripheral weapon such as it was in Gears1. All of these facts, pretty much lead to the point that if you thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer of Gears1 in its exact form, you will NOT like Gears of War 2.

That's one massive paragraph, yikes
I understand what you said, and those are the reasons i hate Gears 2 online. I enjoyed the shotgun battles in Gears 1, now it's just a waste of time to even try and use the shotgun.
Here i'll post my thoughts of Gears 2 from another forum i post on:
I hate the lack of freedom to choose what game type i want, what map i want to play, and who i want to play with. It takes WAY too long to load up an online game, unlike gears 1 where it took me less than 30 seconds to be in a game playing. Now i wait close to 5 mins everytime, and then i end up playing a game type i don't want to play on a map i don't want to play.
That's not all. The shotgun has become absolutely useless and irrelevant in online play. The only weapon worth using is the lancer/chainsaw, and this gets so overly dull after about 2 games.
The lack of gritty dirty maps leaves me longing for Gears 1. I don't like all the uber polished bright maps in Gears 2. Is there even a single map thats set at night time? I don't think there is, but i may be wrong. That Jacinto maps sucks balls, it feels like i'm playing Gears in ancient Rome. There are so many cool environments from the story line that didn't get representation in the online maps. That part of the story where the city, i think it's called ilima, sinks was so badass, and then there's no online map for it. The level in the story mode with the Razor Hail was so cool, and yet again nothing in the online.
Oh not to mention that there's no way to exit an online game if i'm playing sh*tty, or just want to change things up. Boo-urns.
 x 1000
I love the story in this game so much, but i'll be sticking to Gears 1 for my online play. And it's this that pisses me off and leaves a bitter taste in my mouth when i talk about Gears 2.

Reload timer was the stunning thing to you? How about the fact that they actually had a cover system? That teamwork was actually required with another person during the campaign? I thought the characters grew likable to me, and that there was nothing in the world that could stop the Cole-Train. The Multiplayer in Gears 2 is actually a lot better than Gears 1 by far. Far more modes and the ever so addictive Horde mode.

Cover system is an old gameplay mechanic dating back to the PS2 era.
Characters were likable, sure, but completely 1 dimensional.
Mebbe my expectations were too high, peeps made GoW 1 seem like the second coming or something.
Seems like Halo all over again, pure hype and little to no substance.

Yeah, I was kinda sad there was no real "end boss fight" like the first. General RAAM was a bit*h in the first one, the 2nd one, it's kinda just like "SHOOT THIS GUY WITH THE HAMMER!" and that's hit.

What's with all the hate on Gears? To me this game makes me feel a lot like I did when I saw Die Hard for the first time. Everything was badass. This is an action game, and dear God does it get it right. The action is incredible. Not a single dull moment. Way, way better than the first GoW.
I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but it seems like what you guys are complaining about is that you can't be a hero and charge in alone to kill 3 guys at once with a shotgun anymore. Boo-hoo. The use of the shotgun in the first game was just stupid. It was the Halo pistol all over again. The focus on teamwork on this one sounds brilliant, and I look forward to playing it soon.
And about pricing. Movies cost what, $20? And they're 2 hours long. Gears is 8 hours long, and it's something you can interact with. Oh, and then there's the multiplayer which could be good enough to sell as a standalone. All that for $60. I don't know about you, but that sounds like reasonable pricing. Maybe even generous.

Some stupid nerd with no life figured out how to crab-walk in Gears2, I am now straying away from multiplayer a bit until this is patched.
In other news, I am currently reading Gears of War: Aspho Fields. It is incredibly well written, and gives superb insight into the past and experiences of the characters. It has me totally hooked, I've been reading it since 2:30 (it's 8:30 and by non-stop, I mean non-stop), and just took a quick break to check e-mails, I'm now going back to reading more. It isn't a very difficult read, only about 400 pages. There are parts that I have re-read multiple times so far just because there was hidden meaning I wanted to find. Well, I'm off to read the second half now.

The ancient laws of video games.
1. Anyone who is worse than you is a stupid noob.
2. Anyone better is a stupid nerd with no life.
Just kidding :p

i never feel that way. something, i play CoD4, and i go on a knife/P90 rampage, and get 11 kills in a row, no cover, no UAV, no helo, just pure adrenaline and luck, and then others, i get grenaded from the start 3 rounds in a row. I usually stick around when i get twerked, because i know that watching them play only makes me better.
IDK, just me. I never blame the game.
After all, the disk is indifferent.
Wow I don't play COD4 but damn P90 Knife nub... COME ON!

i'm inconsistent at it, too. I'll go 7-1 one game in Warzone, 1-7 next game in Execution ( which i hate. )

I wasn't implying me in that sentence at all. Way to not let go.

But yeah... that does seem to be a common trend. Although half my friends list is Resistance fanboys... I want the game too :\

So do I, but I don't feel like paying for a PS3, not THAT into Resistance to spend $400 (I think that's what it costs.) for a PS3 just for Resistance. Seems interesting though.

Resistance doesn't interest me all that much.
