whammy bar fix

For those of you that have a busted whammy bar here is the fix.

open the guitar up.
take a small rubber band (not the super wide ones)
fold it over the approriate number of times to get it to the correct size.
place it over the black tab hanging above the whammy bar.
stretch it down over the tab on the whammy bar piece.
test out whammy bar to make sure it spring back properly.
close it up and there you go.

the reason this thing breaks is because the spring is being stretched rather than compressed also it's made of very small and weak metal.

I hope harmonix addresses this in future revisions of the guitar.

or you can do what i said in my post and just put a rubber band on the outside of the guitar.

I put a rubber band on the inside (to supplement the whammy's spring).

You can also buy springs. It would allow EA's hardware replacement efforts to go toward more serious catch-on-fire problems or whatever's more serious.

That's awesome, probably much more reliable and much closer to the tension on a real Strat's whammy.
