Transporting characters?

If I wanna take my custom characters over to my friends house and play using them, what do I need?

Do I need to sign into my account over there and use a memory card to transfer the characters? Are there any quirks with retrieving the character after this is done?

Is it even possible to do this?

i will be able to hopefully next week to test this a friend is coming down and he now has his 30+ thousand dollar outfit that he wants to rockout on my projector. I know everything i do is being uploaded to the rockband servers. so im sure we just log in our profile on another machine and my char save profile can be profiled and can use his setup....

Most likely it will be done like you would with Guitar Hero. Copy your Rock Band save file to a memory card, recover your profile on your friend's console, then you can either run the save file off the memory card or copy it onto his hard drive. Note that he can't use your save file unless he's signed in your profile, so you might just want to run off the memory card.

I don't think you can recover it all from recovering your profile alone. It works with Halo 3 but Halo 3 really only saves your character's appearance and the rest is based on achievments.

Haven't tested, but you could just get the memory card and copy it, and if it's all recovered without the memory card you can keep the memory card for other games.

Bought a memory card last night and tried it tonight.

Tossed my Gamer Profile and Rock Band game data onto the memory card. Once RB was loaded up on machine all we had to do was sign in as me from my memory card and I could use all my characters and my friend could use all of his.

We were also able to go into Marketplace on my account and download all the songs I have rights to. As long as I'm signed on we can play the songs.

The only thing that can get a bit tricky is swapping around to different instruments and trying to load up your info. Example, my friend and I both have our own custom drummer and guitarist. If I'm signed in on player 1 as guitar and my friend is signed in on player 2 we can each use our own characters. If we switch and decide that I wanna play drums and he wants to do guitar but we each want to use our own characters, we have to both sign out and sign in on the respective instrument. Can be kind of a hassle but it is what it is. And hey, I may be doing something wrong and doing it the hard way so who knows.

On a side note, just recovering your account on another machine will not get you your characters but you can play your downloadable songs.
