Back when I first started going on these forums I saw a thread about M-rated dlc, and there was alot of controversy about it, and it seemed difficult to make it child-proof and all that bullsh*t. But with the ac/dc track pack coming out with a code to download it, why not do the same for a m-rated track pack, because then you'll either have to be 17 to purchase or have a parent buy it, therefore keeps the youngin from tainting thier "virgin ears" and uncensors songs, because sir psycho sexy is f*cking annoying to play with half of it missing lol. This isn't a MUST but who thinks it would be care or wouldnt be a big idea? Here's 20 songs I think would fit the mold.

1) Ballad Of Chasey Lain - Bloodhound Gang
2) You'er Trippin - The *****s
3) Friggin In The Riggin - Sex Pistols
4) She's My B*tch - Supersuckers
5) Lil Bit Of Whore - Johnny Thunders
6) Police Truck - Dead Kennedys
7) Bad Things - Wednesday 13
8) Last Caress - Misfits
9) Why Don't You Get A Job? - The Offspring
10) Sir Psycho Sexy - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Uncensored Version)
11) Bleed It Out - Linkin Park
12) Summerland - Everclear
13) She Hates Me - Puddle Of Mudd
14) You're G*y - Anal C*nt
15) They Saved Hitler's Brain - Unnatural Axe
16) F*ck The World - Insane Clown Posse
17) F*cking an Animal - GWAR
18) Cut You Up With a Linoleum Knife - Mastodon
19) This Is The New Sh*t - Marylin Manson
20) Angry Video Game Nerd - Kyle Justin

Tell me what you think, and please be free to make suggestions on what should be ommitted or added

I think that making a pack for the sake of having bad language included is just going to lead to something similar to what you have come up with. A bunch of subpar songs that nobody will buy as a pack.

I'd rather have them bleeping out a few words now and then and not have language as a criteria to be bothered with. As far as topic is concerned, I'm pretty sure anything goes as it is, except maybe something extremely explicit.

Apparently not. That means insta-fail.

But beyond that, HMX WANTS to keep up their family-oriented reputation. M-Rated DLC would hurt that reputation and lose them more business than it would gain them.

You do have the best idea toward M rated DLC yet (the method, not so mcuh the song choices).

But here's the bottom line: NOT happening. Get over it.

It won't happen because of the ESRB, when you get a rating by the ESRB you acknowledge to offer DLC content with the same rating as the game, so the DLCs are T, E10+ or E...

I think that's why we have songs that are censored for almost nothing

I'm not a master on the subject, so this is mostly speculative =p But, is there really even applicable rules? The ESRB was around long before DLC for any game was even thought of, so why would there be pre-established rules for the idea? I mean, the ESRB DOES warn "Game experience may change online" or whatever. Which, I do realize that applies more to 12 year-old kids yelling obscenities about your mom on Halo more than company-provided DLC, but the statement COULD apply, correct?

Furthermore, would an M-rated add-on disc actually change the rating of Rock Band itself?

The OP's idea is not bad for someone trying to get dirty words into Rock Band, and it's honestly feasible, IMO

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even if the ESRB were to allow HMX to make M-rated DLC filled with all kinds of swear words, I doubt they'd take advantage of it, because they're protecting their reputation as a family-oriented company. That is why M-rated DLC will not happen any time soon.

And as for "songs being censored for almost nothing," that's more HMX using radio edits supplied by the bands. That's why we get some songs where the editing is stupid beyong comprehension, and others are totally logical. Different bands pander to different crowds and as such have their own way of editing their music. A good example being "Creep," I seriously doubt if Radiohead didn't supply HMX with the version that says "You're so very special" as opposed to "so ****ing special," that they'd just edit the song themselves. They'll just cut out any bad word if the band did not supply an alternative.

Not to mention the random setlists when you play with your kids.

my thread was http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98736&highlight=idea+track+packwith pic

and it shouldnt not be a problem with the T/M ratings cause of every game does stat "Online not rated by ESRB" and if someone downloads the M rated track pack it automatically changes the RB/RB2 rating from T to M and can only be played online with people who has downloaded the track pack just like DLC already is online

It was just a suggestion, idt my track pack was that bad, i dont like ICP either but i was like why the hell not lol, but seriously ur gonna diss everclear and wednesday 13?

Again, HMX has a reputation they want to protect. No matter what kind of ideas you want to come up with to make it work, they still want the reputation of family fun.

Not to mention, how can the game automatically go from a T rating to M, but the T/M ratings aren't a problem because of the "Online not rated by ESRB" thing?

And, as mentioned, that's a way to bail out the ESRB when some kid playing Halo cusses you out and says a million nasty things about your mom, not content the developers intentionally provide for their game.

M rated DLC will NOT happen, and for good reason.
