How to Test the Instruments?

I got Rockband for my kids for Christmas and I want to make sure everything is working OK so they are not disappointed X-Mas morning. I want to test it (XBOX 360) but I am afraid something will get downloaded or an achievement made and it will blow the surprise. How can I check out the instruments without them knowing.

best way I can think of is to boot the game in the 360 without the hard drive or memory unit plugged in, and make sure you dont save.. maybe make yourself a profile on the xbox and delete it afterwards as well.

go into practice mode and fiddle around with each one and make sure each button works.

if you want to REALLY be sure the guitar doesn't crap out play with it for about 4 hours, and if it dies out send in for a new one, you should be able to get it way before xmas.

I don't know an answer, but I have to say: good question! That shows a lot of foresight.

I'm not sure, but if you disconnect your network cable, create a temp profile, log in as that profile when you play the game, and then when you're done, delete that profile, that might keep things clean.

But wait till somebody who knows better than I weights in, I'm just guessing here, haven't tried it.
