View Full Version : Anyone ever dealt with a non profit agency for donations?

Does anyone have experience in dealing with the American Cancer society or any other non profit agency? I want to set up an account so that 10% of my proceeds of my part time business go to the ACS (my father died from cancer so I want to help) but I'm unsure how to start that process, I assume that I legally need to get set up with a tax ID - but after that point, do I just contact ACS and say I want to set up a donation account?

Thanks for any help!

My part time business is working for myself, Wurm. I make craft stuff for kids, and sell via internet.. or will anyway, just making a stockpile of stuff so i can put up a hundred or so auctions up at once.

Edited to add: the stuff I'd be making is all child and baby oriented, such as girly hair stuff, cloth diapers, baby legs, and slings.

Its not going to be anything big money wise, just some extra couple hundred bucks a month to start a new tattoo/moving out fund.

It is. It's an awful lot of work at times, but it's more than worth it. A good accountant is crucial, though. I tried to do the bookkeeping myself in the first year, and that took a lot of the fun out of what I was doing. The extra expense is worth the decrease in stress.

And I see you wisely avoided to react to my earlier statement, Daes. I know you ;).

It was all part of the plan, you see, if I say "oh dear god yes I hope Henry spanks me for my punishment" then he wont do it, because I want it... so I avoided it in hopes that he will punish me ;)

Oh, and Rock_band_over, thanks for the link! I sent them a request, says it takes 1-2 weeks for a response, so that'll probably work out, I hope to be ready in about a month or less. Thanks very much!

Shh, you're doing it wrong. I was helping you lure Henry over by exaggerating your offenses.

Don't defend yourself, just admit that you've been a bad, bad little mod ;).

Remember Lex , one must first learn the ways of the troll before one can defeat the troll.

She's just doing research.
