Are you sure you're not playing with the Pro Guitar players on songs from the RB3 disc, not DLC (Down Loaded Content)?

In other words -- You play DLC songs with Pro Guitar players online, even though you don't have the upgrade?

    That would be awesome!
I hope that can be done ... somehow.

Yes it can be done, I have played with many others whom dont have the Pro Guitar but I do and they seem to not have a problem joining in. I use mostly DLC songs when I play.

Good to hear another confirmation. Thx!

    But still to clarify,
    1) the others don't have the Pro Guitar instrument?
    Or
    2) they don't have the Pro Guitar DLC track upgrade (the 100 Wii Point upgrade)?

    Because #1 doesn't matter.
    I'm talking about #2.
Everything I've read about DLC on the forums says #2 absolutely matters.

(e.g. When I go to select songs for the setlist , they are greyed out. Even though the other person has the DLC track. )

This is interesting, seems like another Wii bug if they're grayed out on your list, polka.

Here's how it used to work on the other consoles: You could play the pro guitar DLC with a pro guitarist even without the pro upgrade on your system, but instead of seeing the pro charting, you'd just see a blank chart. (anyone who bought the pro upgrade would of course see the charted notes) Also, the score wouldn't count towards band high score.

Because of that scoring issue, people started whining, and so HMX patched it so that now you cannot play with pro guitarists unless you have the pro upgraded DLC on your system.

So I would not be surprised at all if the Wii worked the way it originally worked on the other consoles.

When I tried playing with Polk,a screen came up after choosing songs saying we couldn't play them because I didn't own the pro-upgrade.They were dl'ed songs.
What I was saying was it didn't make sense for me to buy the upgrade because I don't intend on playing pro-guitar or bass. I only play online with a few players.None of which I know play pro guitar,at least when I play with them.So far,Polk is the only one I've run into.So you see,it does not make sense to purchase the upgrade for my dlc just to play those songs with you Polk.(no offense)
but if you ever feel like picking up the plastic again, feel free to invite me. :D
It does seem weird that I can play with a pro-drummer on dlc tracks though.

That's because we all have the pro-drums charts. It's built in, no extra upgrade required. :)

I agree as well... seems greedy of HMX to require pro upgrade for all band members.

Is the same true for pro-keys (for DLCs) ?

No. Pro keys and pro drums are built in to all dlc (where keys have a part). At no extra charge. I never had a RB2 drum kit with cymbals. I got my RB3 pro drum kit when the game came out in November and all of the RB2 imports as well as older dlc have pro drum charts. Don't know why pro guitar/bass players are limited to to only playing with others that have the dlc upgrades. I can understand the buck extra for the pro charting, but not the limiting of their online play.

If Polka, or any other pro g/b player wants to play, I don't have a problem playing on disc songs, if they don't. The limitation sucks though.

Not sure if anybody is still playing RB2 in this thread. I still occasionally pop in my RB1 disc so I can play those songs though. :) So many I wish we could import. I'd pay quite a bit just for "When You Were Young" and "Won't Get Fooled Again".
