So I absolutely love the Beatles. Been playing it since Saturday and have gone through the career.

The artwork and the venues are just absolutely amazing. This has got to be my favorite rhythm game to date.

But unfortunately, I do have a complaint about the Note Gem Highway. It's very transparent, in Rock Band 1 and 2 this wasn't a problem because the venues were generally dark. Also, without Super Speed (Breakneck) on, it's not a huge problem. But someone like me needs Super Speed in order to play at the best of my abilities. In the beatles the venues are all very bright and so with superspeed on it's making it very hard to read the notes in particular bright venues, such as the song "Within You Without You" is just so psychedelic and bright that it stressed me out a little bit to read the gem note highway because it's so transparent. I've also noticed that I've been getting headaches from it and this has never happened before.

I guess what I'm proposing is, not to change this, but to add an option to adjust or make the highway more solid so that it's easier to read the note chart.

So in Good Morning Good Morning, we recorded videos of me and my friend getting a double FC (her on vocals, me on guitar). So, at the end of the song, it stated that she had hit 99% of the phrases on vocals, got a 36 phrase streak so we thought, alright must have missed one without noticing. Then we did it again and got 100% on vocals and it said "36 phrase streak", so, we thought that was odd but luckily I have video proof of it on my laptop. :)

Another thing I forgot to mention is, if you have Super Speed on, it does not apply in practice mode. Don't know if this was intentional or not.

right off the bat you can tell this is a labor of love. the amount of production value in this game is astonishing. It's one of the most polished games I've ever played bar-none.

The visuals are fresh and capture the imagination, the UI is friendly (and pretty!), easy to use, and straightforward. The charts are not as easy as a lot of people would think - and even many of the 'easy' songs are charted very well, making them very fun to play, even if they don't all put 'blisters on your fingers'

It's a huge difference.. playing a game with one band. I know there are other band games out there, and people complain about there being 'only' 45 songs in the game, but that's still more songs for the specific artist then even the other games put out. Best part is - every song is quality. It is a completely different feeling when you love each of the songs. I've played every music rhythm game out there.... a lot. They all have hits and misses. A lot of it is taste, yes, however, you know what you're getting when you buy The Beatles: Rock Band, and to have 45 songs on one disc that are all awesome - that's a big deal.. that's more 'favorites' than the other games that have more songs overall.

It's also great to hear what each Beatle is playing independently as well, as it expands your horizons and in many ways change the way the music sounds to you, you hear more parts that you didn't notice before, and it only helps improve the song, breathe new life into it.

heck, I don't even have to mention how wide the appeal of The Beatles are.. this game should have long legs, and with DLC on the horizon (I'm assuming we're going to get the full catalog - or at least as much as possible that can be played in a game like RB), I can see myself playing this for a long time coming.

Recommended must buy for any Beatles or music fan.

and if you've never really listened to the Beatles? Absolute must buy. (this is coming from someone who's primarily a metal-head that just got into the Beatles himself a few months ago. I'm properly versed now, trust me).

the only thing I could possibly say that I miss (I can't whine about no double bass for the beatles ;)) would be a mode where one player can login and do vocals and an instrument at the same time. It's not a huge deal since I can just act like two players, but it'd still be neat to have a mode based on one player doing both, and rated on that or some such.


back to the game!

Got the game on monday. and I'm impressed to say the very least!

The first thing anyone will notice is the visual presentation, and how striking it is. Production values; through the roof! Gameplay, nothing new, just the rock solid RB gameplay that everyone knows and loves. It's also full of great fan service; the most in any game dedicated to a singular band.

But, the game isn't perfect for the simple fact that it doesn't have the lasting appeal of most music games. The setlist is small, and a few key tunes are missing. Also, there is many songs that I personally just won't return too after playing them with all instruments. I can see many people having the same problem.

Despite this gripe, TBRB is a terrific game. Any fan of the BEATLES or RB will love it, albiet for a limited time until attention goes back to RB2 and it's DLC.

In Conclusion:

Presentation: 10

Gameplay: 9

Graphics: 9

Soundtrack: 8.5 (it's the Beatles, but some favorites are missing. Hell, some of the upcoming DLC should have been included on disc. That is inexcusable).

Lasting Appeal: 6 (small setlist and the songs are short. It's an amazing experience, but you'll be playing RB2 in no time)

Overall: 8.5

I'm sick of waiting to play already. :(

I'm really very disappointed with this game.
To colorful, short career, can't import songs from RB2, WTF Harmonix and the same old gameplay from RB games, nothing new. I hate to sing, so harmonies features is not a big deal to me and 95% of the gamers, since most of us prefer guitar or drums.
I'm going to pass this one and stick with the awesome Guitar Hero 5.

Agreed! I'm very disappointed with my apple. I prefer oranges, and 95% of fruit eaters also prefer oranges. I'm taking my business to the orange sellers down the road.
