Death metal is definitely my favorite, in particular old school death metal, death/thrash, and technical/brutal death metal.
2nd would be heavy metal, which isn't included on the poll (includes proto-metal, early doom stuff like Pentagram, and speed metal and the 1st wave black metal bands like Hellhammer) Not so much the NWOBHM like Iron Maiden though.
3rd would have to be sludge and doom. -

Prog, then thrash and death. Hair metal I wouldn't really classify as a musical genre but more of a style or attitude.

My favorite from the stuff I heard so far would probably be death metal, followed by heavy metal then power metal.

Im surprised super narrow and small categories like gothic and industrial are over doom metal. Besides, sludge metal is a subfusiongenre of doom metal.
