I will be frowny-faced if Silian Rail doesn't become at least a minor favorite amongst post-rock fanatics before they break up.

Everything is updated other than a link for Silian Rail. Thanks for reminding me of RYM afterstasis, easier to find the album covers.

just finished Farewell Aldeberan. excellent listen; besides the last track, which was a little rough on the ears, every song was gold.

I like to think of that last track as a final reassurance that I'm dealing with genuine hippies and not posers.
Jerry Yester was in The Lovin' Spoonful after all so I had my suspicions.

    Dwarr - Animals
    Genre: Heavy Psych/Heavy Metal
    Year: 1986

Depressed and likely insane metalhead factory worker from South Carolina records incredible and bizarre psychedelic proto-doom album based on a dream he had about cannibalism on a 4-track in his trailer's bedroom circa '86. No one notices, so he burns his gear, master tapes, and his copies of this record before becoming a Christian rocker.
Looking up info for this alerted me to the fact that this album actually received a reissue a month ago. Excellent news and so well deserved.

Recommended If You Like: Black Sabbath, Captain Beyond, Jex Thoth, Flower Travellin' Band, Coven, and High Tide.

Sample (and order) via Drag City.

    Venus Gang - Galactic Soul
    Genre: Disco
    Year: 1978

For the select few of you cool enough to dig fully improvised space disco.

Recommended If You Like: Giorgio Moroder, Black Devil Disco Club, Zodiac, Gino Soccio, Kebekelektrik, and Azoto.

    Love To Fly
    Telstar

    EDIT: Blog updated.

That story kills me. Never heard of this record though, and this type of music is my specialty.

Yeah, I'm really hoping this reissue gets it some long overdue attention.

I actually found the factory he was working at when I moved to Columbia, and I live about 15 minutes from the college he thanks in the liner notes for allowing him to use their drums. :)
