Girls At Our Best! - Pleasure
Genre: Post-Punk/Twee
Year: 1981

More upbeat female-fronted post-punk, this time much poppier than you'd expect, sometimes sounding like the missing link between Au Pairs, Siouxsie & The Banshees, and The Go Go's. There's some rather smart and unique structure going on here as recognized by bands like The Wedding Present and Aislers Set later covering some of these songs).
Oh, and Thomas Dolby plays keyboard here which may actually be a strike against it, but hey. Be sure to get the CD version here as it has excellent bonuses.

Recommended If You Like: Au Pairs, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Raincoats, Delta 5, Talulah Gosh, and Shop Assistants.

I've already heard Girls At Our Best! from an early recommendation from afterstasis, great stuff. The Dwarr material from yesterday was awesome I need to play major catch up on albums of the day.

Genre: Dreampop/Synthpop
Year: 1989

Former members of The Church and Game Theory star here, putting to tape an excellent collection of dreamy pop songs that serve as a missing link between ethereal wave and new wave.
This stuff is quite polished to boot, with lush production and impeccable playing, but doesn't sound weak or over-rehearsed.

Recommended If You Like: The Church, Game Theory, Cocteau Twins, The Sundays, Cranes, and His Name Is Alive.

The Workhouse - The End Of The Pier

Almost 2 hours of mostly instrumental post-rock in the vein of Mogwai and friends with complimentary dashes of dreampop and post-punk influence.
If you find yourself ceaselessly complaining about 9 out of every 10 post-rock albums you hear for being too similar to their peers you may feel the same way here, but for those who are content with the notion of a Mogwai-inspired group adding in The Chameleons' guitar work and Slowdive's cathedral-esque production then bliss awaits you here.

Recommended If You Like: Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Slowdive, Yndi Halda, Kitchens Of Distinction, and The Chameleons.
