True enough. And while typically the numbers DO reflect similar sales patters to the 360 (selling about half as well on the PS3), there are the occasional exceptions to the rule. To date, though, I don't believe there's a single RBN song that's ever sold better on the PS3 than it did on the 360.

One other nasty hurdle that might get in the way - does an authoring company need to "relicense" a song to go cross-system? Not sure how it works, but if that's the case, even a popular song might not be able to make the jump to the Playstation 3 if the band label decides they don't want to play anymore.

They ported over "Energy," the best-selling of the Apples in Stereo songs. And while it did well, the other five songs are averaging around 200 scores each on the 360 leaderboards after having been available for nearly a year. Not particularly good "let's add more from this artist" sales. Free Spirit had similar (slightly higher) numbers, but again, only their best seller was brought over to the PS3.

In retrospect, all twelve Amberian Dawn songs that came over had 800+ scores on the leaderboards, and all higher than the best sellers from Apples in Stereo, Free Spirit, Gomez or Rose of Jericho. (Actually, scratch that, Lost Soul only has about 700, but it's also only been out for about two months.)

Dance Floor. 370 scores in over a year. Variety is the spice of life, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will sell. :(

Prior to RB3, the Free Spirit songs had around 1000 plays that I saw. They're all around 700 now, but that's on the RB3 engine only.

There has been at least one RBN song that sold better on the PS3 than the 360. (No, I won't tell you which one or ones. But it's interesting trivia.)

As I recall, there was a period (even before the PSN outage) when the PS3 wasn't getting any RBN songs, and the 10-song weeks were making up for that. It doesn't mean that Sony would be able to keep up with that on a permanent basis.

Nope, I believe they were just trying to pick up the pace before the crossover

I believe it was Christmas week where PSN didn't update, and so those 5 plus the next 5 were in the next update. I might be wrong though.

Yeah, but that was just one week of stacking. When the RBN2 crossover was emminent, there were ten songs every week. That's why PSN being down for a little over a month brought 50-60 songs

That's pretty cool. I'd love to know which one. I see 2 that have more plays on the PS3 than the 360, but that doesn't mean much.

Hey Harmonix, just wanted to say thanks. I randomly checked out PSN today because I was excited to finally fix the PS3 PSN preview issue where you couldn't hear the songs and I to my delight...I saw both midnight riders songs! I'll be buying both this weekend, thanks!
