Why doesn't TAG use the drum roll mechanic in most of it's songs? It's blatantly missing in Rishloo - Diamond Eyes and really disappointed me. I noticed it was missing in a lot of other songs as well, or sporadic in some of them (ie in some sections where it belongs and then inexplicably left out of others.) If I had playtested this song, I would have strongly recommended against releasing it as is.

The Rishloo and Halcyon Way songs are so awesome, I want to see them come out perfect.

As the drum charter for Diamond Eyes, I was very much against using the roll lanes for the Ride and Hi-hat sections in that song, purely because although the sections are fast, they're a consistent rhythm. I have a disliking for any kind of lane that occurs on a section without fluctuations (be it roll, strum or trill lanes) as I feel they're un-necessary, and we coped without them before didn't we?

Not to say you're wrong or anything, that's just my view as an author.

As an author I can say that we definitely use them where they're appropriate.

that said, I don't think there's a spot in diamon eyes where I'd consider it appropriate, every spot that MIGHT warrant it is constant anyway, and adding drum lanes there would ruin the chart.

Also, drum lanes are meant for sections with either an incoherent pattern, or something thats too fast to play properly on the RB kit.

diamond eyes contains nothing within those criteria.

And if it makes you feel better, rest assured lanes were considered.

I would personally use the rolls in several places in the song, but I think not using them when the hi-hat was really going should have been failable. I don't think that stock Rock Band kits can take rolls like that accurately.

There was a Rishloo or Halcyon Way song that used the rolls in consistent spots and now I need to go back and find it.

On behalf of TAG, I'm sorry.
