I also just saw how low his batting average is for the year. What also surprised me is how low his OBP has been throughout his career, relative to how well he's hit. Considering he's a career .323 hitter, a .367 OBP is kinda low.

Drawing walks has never been part of his game.

    Yeah pretty much :p

I wish Larry Bowa were still on the Dodgers' coaching staff.

So he could still chew them out for totally sucking when they totally suck.

re: Ichiro, if he gets in it's because of love for SB's and (maybe) his OBP, in addition to any intangible stuff like opening the floodgates for Japanese position players going to MLB. His hit count is obviously impressive, but usually these days you should hit the 3000 mark to really be a "no doubter". But his career OPS is very "meh" (which surprises me, given his speed...I would figured he would have had more doubles in particular)

The East Coast Bias reference is merely for the potential of being snubbed for a few seasons after he is eligible. I also said that the steroids era could minimize that also.

Yeah, that's just kinda surprising to me. More often than not, the really high average hitters also draw a lot of walks.

I am a stupid. I booted up MLB.tv to watch the Mariners game...except there wasn't one tonight. D'oh! I watched one inning of Marlins/Red Sox until I remembered how little I cared.

I always thought Monday was the 'typical' offday. Le shrug.

Get with the program. We're supposed to love it and think it's the greatest thing ever.
