    A bit of story, some character bios, maybe a map or two. There's plenty they could put in those little booklets.

    Just cause it isn't necessary doesn't mean it isn't nice to have. A box isn't necessary either but it's nice that games come in them instead of just a little paper envelope.

    A box is more necessary than a manual. I would do as far to say that boxes are necessary. Distribution, retail storage and consumer storage needs those boxes.

    You cant put those sleeves on store shelves. The boxes are needed the manuals are not.
