He only threw it together in an evening. He made a deal with me that he'd write a song about how much he loves me if Dream Theater was announced in the next two months.
Two days later, we got a changed-up list of Facebook artists with a SINGLE Dream Theater song mentioned right at the end.
Future time! We’re gonna play things a little differently this time around. I’m gonna highlight the four closest songs we have to release, and instead of announcing new songs, I’m gonna drop a bunch of genres that we’re working on. Reason being is it’s a bit too early to reveal what we have coming up. Instead, I'm gonna announce the bands later this month as we wrap up their tracks, and we won’t be making any new band announcements today. They’re definitely worth the wait though!
Here’s four songs that are set to come out very soon in case you missed the news!
Nod 206 - Ocaso Escarlata
One of our two Spanish-language songs from Nod 206. The band, hailing from Paraguay, has gained a lot of attention once the news broke that they were coming to RBN. While fans call this track nu-metal, it’s more of a hard rock kind of song. Kick-heavy drums, a variety of guitars, heavy-sounding bass and a few interesting vocal harmonies, as well as a touch of keys, come together to make a hell of a song that you don’t need to know Spanish to enjoy.
Spassm - Ghost of Fallen Pluto
Spassm brings punk music from Lapeer, Michigan, which can all be downloaded free. Ghost of Fallen Pluto features diverse guitar work (which involves some interesting solos), fast-paced and unique drums, and some interesting keys throughout. In addition, every phrase has a harmony, so if you’re really looking to grab some double (or triple) harmonies, this is the song for you.
Broken Equilibrium – Etchings (2x Bass Pedal version also coming soon)
Broken Equilibrium is bringing quite a few songs to follow up their last RBN1 releases, but I wanted to focus on this one for one reason; the bass solo. It’s a long solo where bassist Ted Gieseking II really shows off his skill. Anyone looking for a not-impossible-but-still-tough kind of bass chart needs to keep their eyes on this one; even outside the solo, the bass cannot be called boring at all. Drummers will also find this an immense challenge, as it may be the hardest Broken Equilibrium song on drums to date.
Rainbowdragoneyes - Creatures ov Deception (RB3 version) (2x Bass Pedal version also coming soon)
You asked for it, you got it. Rainbowdragoneyes’s RBN1 classic, the first chiptune song to ever hit the Rock Band platform, is being upgraded with keys and harmonies. If you thought the original couldn’t get any more insane, you thought wrong. The added vocals throw a bit more challenge to vocalists, the guitar gets a little strummier, the drums are just as insane as ever, and keyboardists’ skills will be tested by the fast patterns and the insane solo, which is now authored to keys and Pro Keys. We’re hoping this one gets to PS3, a fate denied the original, but even if you’re not on PS3, you’ll find this an upgrade worth making. An RB3 2x Bass Pedal version is also coming out because we love the hardcore drummers that buy our songs and we feel you should have the new features alongside the insanity of double bass.
To close off here, here’s a list of genres of songs we’re working on! I’m only listing the genres of some bands we haven’t announced yet.
We’ll have more for you in our announcements thread as we wrap them up. Long live RBN!
Strikken's vocalist sounds like he has trouble with those higher notes and some of the sustains. For that... there's just a few too many parts that annoy me. Good instrumentation though.
Although, towards the end of Forever In Lies, the volume for one of the vocal streams goes WAAAAAY too high. Might wanna fix that.
But, damn. No Holy Man is so amazing. Sounds very 80's metal-ish. James Labrie gives it that extra awesome edge especially during the chorus. Day 1 purchase right there.
Nod 206 and Spassm are the closest to release from those four, followed by RDE and then Broken Equilibrium. You know how PR goes though, any of those could end up coming out sooner than the other.
