The new Bloc Party and Wild Nothings albums were both decent.

Woah, I missed that. Thank you!
I've splurged on a bunch of new stuff and am making my way through it, so here are some initial impressions:
Jessie Ware: Great lead single, subpar album. Pretty bummed, but Wildest Moments is superb, love the effects on the chorus so much.
Anaïs Mitchell: Reminds me of Joanna Newsom and Emmylou Harris. Definitely going to check out the rest of her material because I adored this album.
Katatonia: Did not leave much of an impression, but I have a feeling it'll grow on me with time.
New Converge song has me torn. I like it, but his vocals just aren't doing it for me in this song until the end. We'll see if the rest of the album is like this, I guess.
new Mountain Goats, new Grizzly Bear and new Why? leaked
im hearing good things about Why? and im big fan of their previous material but I haven't given it a listen yet
Listening to the new Krallice record.
I'm not a massive fan of their first two albums (they were good, but sometimes they felt like what would happen if Liturgy were actually good, but even then, it still didn't sound amazing), but Diotima was great.
Years Past Matter is shaping up to be even better than Diotima so far.
I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect nothing's gonna beat the new Mountain Goats this year for me.
Bummed I didn't have the funds for Hopscotch Fest to see the metal covers set.
I'm hoping someone at least cops a soundboard recording from that show, or, better yet, that he records his renditions. For now, I'm just excited to hear what the dude covers.
But the new album is blowing me away, too. It's a grower, and it already started out pretty high for me. You can really hear everything John Darnielle's been doing on his last few albums come together beautifully on Transcendental Youth. Plus, there are so many lines that just stick to my mind like peanut butter to the roof of a dog's mouth.
The new Devin Townsend Project leaked, which exceeded my expectations. When something gets sold to me as "like Def Leppard but..." I tend not to stick around for the remainder of the sentence, but Epicloud goes beyond that. It's a pretty diverse thing for Devin does pop and I think he's really taken to mixing pop and metal to good results. The album is a fun ride throughout.
