    Neil Peart is the lyricist of Rush. The people writing the lyrics and music for a band or artist are a part of the group. They do as much work as anyone else so the "the person who penned the stuff was in the band so its ok" thing doesnt work.

    It works in my book since there are plenty of singers out there who have lyrics and music written by people who have nothing to do with them otherwise.

    The vocalist is good. The song is not.

    It may be better with proper instruments instead of a wavetable MIDI backing track, though.

    I don't think I like it enough to "like" it. However, your girlfriend's got pipes! I hope she keeps singing, and I hope to hear more from here soon--maybe record a live performance?
