Does it disappoint you to recognize a voice actor?
Maybe this won't make sense. But I've been playing the Assassin's Creed series the last month or so to get ready for AC3 in about a week and a half, and I can't help but notice they have the same 6 or 7 people voicing all the roles. (Or so it seems) The performances themselves aren't half-bad, but I can't stop myself from saying "Oh, that's the same guy who voiced Malik in AC1," or "What's Cesare Borgia doing in Syria? I thought I killed him already."

Contrast it to something like The Simpsons and, well, do Apu, Superintendent Chalmers, and Cletus sound anything alike? They're all Hank Azaria.

I'm sure this can extend to other works that are in some way animated (Family Guy, hullo), but it's been on my mind lately playing AC. Does this ever bug you at all, when you can tell who's behind a voice?

It's the same with the Final Fantasy/ Kingdom Hearts series. They use the same actors for all the games. Some even voice the resident evil characters.

I don't find it disappointing. I just say "Hey, it's that voice from Final Fantasy." Then keep playing :)

If you branch out into other Ubi games, you'll find quite a large number of those voice actors are popping up in every game they publish. In particular, there's at least one random NPC voice that I've heard in Far Cry: Instincts, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Double Agent, & Conviction, Far Cry 2, and each of the Assassin's Creed games I've played. His biggest parts are in Chaos Theory (In the Displace HQ level, he's the NPC you hear talking about how the crazy guy they're guarding has the new Prince of Persia game), but I don't think he has a named role in any of the games I've heard him in.

Honestly though, it doesn't bother me. I enjoy noticing that kind of behind-the-scenes sort of thing and can quite easily detach myself from the meta-experience to enjoy the games as they are. (Some voice actors I'm actually quite happy to see pop up, such as Robert Davi, Keith David, and Raphael Sbarge.)

Doesn't bother me at all. Even if they reuse a voice like Family Guy did with Pewterschmidt and the Doctor, if they can keep my interest by all means.

I'm easily amused, like a baby.

It's amusing. There are a TON of VAs in Borderlands and Blands 2, and at least a dozen of them I can recognize immediately as main characters and villains from the One Piece dub (aside from Lilith, whose VA uses a drastically different voice in One Piece, but if you watch one of many other Funimation dubs [Fairy Tail, Deadman Wonderland, Panty & Stocking, Cat Planet Cuties, Steins;gate, etc, etc, etc], you can pick out her voice immediately)

Of course not. If I recognize a voice, I usually allude to it by yelling out the voice actor's names. This tends to happen much more with anime dubs, though I don't tend to watch those much (i prefer subs).

In The Venture Bros, aside from the main cast and most females, every voice is the two creators of the show. It's really noticeable with Doc Hammer. Every voice sounds like a variation of 21.

It doesn't bother me. I actually think it's funny. In the commentary on one of the episodes they mention how it's hard for the to get voice actors so they end up just doing it themselves.

John Viener voices almost every other character in Family Guy and it's the same exact voice every time.
