I'm having some great runs, not missing notes, raising the cap levels across the board, etc. with Jack/Blast. Now ask me where I'm ranking with that setup. About 21 on Diamond Eyes and 27 on Snow.

Do any of our exceptional pinball players want to conduct an experiment for me? Are you able to post a top ten level score using this as a strategy:

    -Road Rage or Bottle Rocket
    -Pinball
-NEVER USE YOUR CONTROLLER TO TAKE OUT ANY NOTE BESIDES WHITE ONES. Power up taking out other notes is okay.

If it's possible to record it and upload it, I think it would speak volumes to HMX that the game isn't played as a rhythm game in order to win, anymore.

It instead becomes a piss-poor Breakout clone.

As I understand it the guys over at Harmonix get all the stats displayed on the end game screen (which is how they determined that flame notes were over powered). When they see that people with almost non-existant base note scores are getting more than competent scores I'm sure they'll get the message. My guess is that we'll see some more nerfing. It's like StarCraft II all over again, except I know how to play this game.

Challenge accepted. This may not be a top 10 run, but I didn't use anything other than Pinball. I did this on my first try after about a week of not playing.

If that doesn't point out the ridiculousness of where the game is at right now, I don't know what does.

It really is ridiculously easy to gold star most songs with pinball. I was a pretty good Blitz player when it first came out using road rage , blast and super but got tired of it and stopped playing for a while. I could never get anywhere near some of the scores of the top jackpot, flame note players on here.

I had used pinball once or twice but had always assumed it would be better to focus on accuracy while playing than focus on keeping the pinball going.

After reading the flame note nerf thread and deciding to go for this "pinball reliant" play style, I have been able to gold star practically every new song I play and gold star all 25 from the blitz track pack. Songs that I had been grinding for a long time to gold star during the initial release of Blitz have become easy.

Pinball style has renewed my interest in the game so I guess that is Harmonix end goal, but it is discouraging that you can score so much higher without having any regard for accuracy or check points.

Here is my detailed guide to gold-starring the vast majority of songs playable in Rock Band Blitz. Notice the special attention I paid to the bass and vocal parts and my perfect execution of the guitar and drum parts. I did not use an overdrive powerup because it distracts the player from the music, defeating the purpose of the game. I also decided against using Synchrony or a Super Instrument, because every note in each measure is equally important on every instrument. I am sure the original composers of this wonderful piece of music would agree that this is the way the song is meant to be played.

    Song: Visions
    Powerups: Nothing/Pinball/Nothing
    Score: 216,560 (gold stars)
    Drums: 0%
    Bass: 1%
    Guitar: 0%
    Vocals: 2%
    Base points: 60
    Blitz mode: 0
    Highest multiplier reached: 1x
Incredible. Just incredible. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Yes thanks for doing that Ketchup. Not much left to say after watching that. It kind of speaks for itself. Harmonix must be proud lol. Arn't these music games they are suppose to be making?

I don't really care much about Blitz, and therefore this whole nerf discussion. But THAT is freakin' hilarious. I just might play some Blitz this weekend just to gold star a bunch of songs. ...or maybe have my 2 year old do it for me....
    Thanks, ketchup.
