All right, finally got to play Party Hard on keys. I like note-dense songs like that. Hope to get to the other instruments later in the month.

Over here in Norway they are a 3-hit wonder from what I have gathered (The Sun Always Shine on TV and Cry Wolf or whatever that last song was called with the catchy chorus)

So sad 2012 was the worst year for Rock Band DLC. I think I won't expect much for now, but good think they keep releasing DLC.

I might as well post about the actual songs, though it's been a while since I've played the Blitz songs and the less I have to hear "Tonight Tonight" the better:

Guitar:
1. Party Hard - A lot of fun, but more for the song itself than the chart.
2. We Are Young - It's all right once it gets going.
3. Raise Your Glass - Kind of annoying alt-strumming.

Bass:
1. Party Hard - Diet guitar.
2. We Are Young - Super easy, but with just enough variety to keep things interesting.
3. Raise Your Glass - Chorus is kind of boring, rest of the song is dead air.

Pro keys:
1. We Are Young - A solid mid-tier piano part.
2. Party Hard - More variety than you might think from just listening to it. There's some four-note chords, but they're not too hard to get the hang of.
3. Raise Your Glass - I don't remember much of this chart, but I think it was all right

Pro drums:
1. We Are Young - Repetitive, but I always like songs that use floor toms a lot.
2. Raise Your Glass - Bass thumping for the verses, easy quarter note hi-hat beat for the chorus
?. Party Hard - Haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Overall: "Raise Your Glass" is mostly good for vocals (assuming you're on the Wii and don't already have Blitz); for the other songs, go for whatever songs you like.

I just remembered I wrote reviews on DLCQP for every Blitz song on guitar, so I guess I'll post them in these threads.

Raise Your Glass

This chart was a big surprise for me. Like most people, when I heard Raise Your Glass was on Blitz, I didn't expect much. I thought it would be a Moves Like Jagger type deal where it's only fun on vocals. Luckily, it surpassed my expectations.

You start off with the main riff, which is composed of lots of chords moving across the fretboard, with muted alt-strumming in front of some of the notes. Not only did I find this part pretty fun, it actually managed to break my combo fairly often, which I did not expect from a P!nk song. You play the same pattern until the end of the verse, where you play a three note chord. While it's fun, it does get repetitive, and it would have been hilarious if they charted the "nwow nwow nwow NWOW" to the guitar.

After this is the chorus, which will trip a lot of people up. You play three note chords. Lots of them. With a lot of movement. With muted single notes ahead of them. If you're not quick with your fingers, you'll lose your combo a lot. I certainly did. After another repetition of the verse aand chorus, you play a bridge of sustain chords. Then you play the chorus until the end of the song.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good chart that doesn't get a fair shake. It's no "Shine", but I thought it was pretty fun for what it is, and definitely better than Moves Like Jagger or Stronger. I'd play it again.

We Are Young

I've decided that I'm going to review as many songs from Blitz as possible. And first up to bat, we have fun. with their biggest hit, We Are Young. Let's get started.

As you've probably noticed, this is not a guitar heavy song. Before I played, all I expected were chords during the chorus. But I was definitely surprised. For the first verse and chorus, all you get are two BO notes in quick succession. After this, you wait until the very end of the fist chorus, where you get a O-po-B. Afterwards, you get a few YO chords, until you finally get an enjoyable pattern over 1 1/2 minutes into the song, with RB chords played repeatedly, with the occasional triplet with the same chord. After this is GY chords mixed with GYB chords, which then moves up to RY, then to a triplet pattern on YB.

After this, you get to the 2nd chorus, which, as I predicted before, is made up of chords. The chords actually manage to be pretty fun, with a decent amount of movement, followed by a pattern of hammer-ons going up the fretboard, until it goes to chords again, the the chorus starts over again. After this chorus, we get the 3rd verse/Janelle Monáe guest spot. This part has a lot of single notes mixed with hammer-ons, and I found this part to be the highlight of the guitar part. You then go into the last chorus, where the first half is more of the scattered playing of the last verse, followed by the normal chorus afterwards. Afterwards, there's the quiet ending, with no playing, after which the song ends.

SO how'd I feel about the guitar part? Personally, I feel it was a lot of fun when you were doing something, but with some boring parts and the nearly two minutes of waiting at the start, I feel I have to give this a 3 out of 5. OK, but not great.
