Can't agree with R2R about a lot of those, but I still didn't have high hopes for new Deerhunter.
I have no idea why though, just a bad hunch.
the new GY!BE overall wasn't that impressive, but I still maintain that that opening track is one of the best they've recorded
About 1/3 of the way through 2013, a quick list of my favorite 2013 releases thus far.
Annorkoth - The Last Days
Ash Borer - Bloodlands
Boduf Songs - Burnt Up on Re-Entry
Deerhunter - Monomania
Funeralium - Deceived Idealism

Lots of catching up to do, especially in terms of recent jazz/classical.
Still have a couple of things I have to get to from this year yet, but favorites so far:
Boris - Präparat
Mortgage Freeman - The Living Proof
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)
Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance
Avantasia - The Mystery Of Time
Sacriphyx - The Western Front
Ghost B.C. - Infestissumam
Isaak - The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound
The Area 11 from earlier this year is disappointing me with its not-so-hot re-records. Haven't bothered listening to most of the rest of the album though, so there might be something worth it in there.
I think this is the first time I posted in my own thread.
The new Colin Stetson's great. Bon Iver has redeemed himself.
New Mikal Cronin is awesome, somehow head and shoulders above his debut.
New Wolf People is superb!
These guys should be doing those Game of Thrones songs.
Curious what y'all think of the new Orwells single especially those who did not like the debut.
Also Garage Swim is a great comp.
