Completely different genre's and time periods. A little bit of an unfair analogy don't you think?

Well, no, not when you said no band is ever better than another. Muse and Tenacious D are also completely different genres. But okay.

The Archies sure are equal to the Beatles, huh?

    Same time period.

Limp Bizkit sure are equal to Alter Bridge, huh?

Alter Bridge being perhaps the most critically-acclaimed remotely commercially successful band these days. Point is that all bands are not created equal.

The point that is being made is that there might be people who like The Archies more than The Beatles.

Hell, I'd listen to Break Stuff and Nookie any day of the week, but I can't stand Alter Bridge. You can't objectively say that one group is better than another.

The reason Muse and Tenacious D were used in the OP was because that was what the discussion was about. It was about Muse and Tenacious D.

Yes, you most certainly can. Opinions are great fun, and if you like Limp Bizkit better than anything, heaven bless you. But Alter Bridge (as one example) have far more technically proficient musicians, more complex and thorough compositions, and jesus, frontmen. Myles Kennedy has a degree in music theory. Fred Durst is ****ing Fred Durst. One group is of an objectively higher quality than the other. If you like low-quality stuff, that's fine. Hell, I do too in some cases. But that doesn't make it better. Just your favorite. Two very different things.

You can't honestly say that Nickelback sleepwalking their way through the same three chords in every one of their songs is in any way equal to a group like Radiohead (and jesus, I hate Radiohead). That's just lunacy.

Does that make DragonForce the greatest band of all time then?

Honestly, if they could actually play their compositions on a reliable basis and had a little more depth and range, they could make a case.

But "complex and thorough compositions" does not mean ALL OF THE NOTES ALL OF THE TIME, of course. "Blackbird" by Alter Bridge is what I'd call a complex and thorough composition. I was gonna link to it, but you wouldn't listen I'm sure.

Dammit Aly, I guess it was my fault for mentioning "Hysteria". Whenever someone mentions Alter Bridge I'm sad because they have 0 songs in RB :( :( :(
