How hard have you looked? Do you try to listen to previews or watch videos?

See, this is a different arguement. Your issue here is big, known bands vs general quality.

I'm a little picky regarding music, but I've got over 950 songs in my library, of which over 60 are RBN, and probably more than half are RBN2. There's some good stuff in RBN, depending on your tastes. Like Bon Jovi/Hard Rock/Hair Metal? Free Spirit has a full album on RBN that has that vibe. Like Rock/Pop? Rose of Jerricho has several songs that have hints of a poppier Evanescence. And that's just 2 of my favorite bands to have RBN2 songs out.

Beyond that, there are plenty of $.99 songs on RBN, some pretty high quality stuff in fact.

If you're not willing to spend they money on an "unknown band", then that's fine, but to expect big time names week in and week out is asking for disappointment.

I think the problem is that you keep holding out for major name bands.

You say "why would I spend money on an unknown band ahead of a band I already know I like?" which is an acceptable opinion (although one I would personally disagree with). However, there likely AREN'T many, if any, big name bands coming through the network on a consistent basis, so you really aren't "putting an unknown band ahead" of anything. If you aren't previewing RBN songs on a regular basis because you're just crossing your fingers that some big name artist rolls out of the pipeline the next week, you're setting yourself up for disappointment thanks to unreasonably high expectations.

At the very least, don't call the RBN crap just because you won't put any effort into finding good songs.

I'm not going to go through your list name-by-name, but I can tell you that based on your list, you'll find songs that suit your fancy if you put some effort into looking.

    I'll even help him start.

If you like '80s hair metal, give Free Spirit a listen.

With Freezepop and Bang Camaro in your list, give Anarchy Club a listen.

If you like '70s ELO-type music, give the Apples in Stereo a listen.

And of course, everyone should give Amberian Dawn a listen. If someone like me, who has virtually no taste for metal, can like Amberian Dawn, anyone can.

Megalodon is also RBN2. Also you should consider picking up "By The Grace of The Grill" by Graveyard BBQ since you already have Cheat on the Church.

Since you like Steve Vai, you should check out "Deliver Us" and "Redemption" by Andy Timmons, both great instrumental rock songs in the same vein as Vai.

Also I see you like Testament, so I guess that might mean you like more Thrash Metal? Might be a bit to Slayer-ish for your tastes (as far as I know) but check out Evile, they got several great tracks, and also check out Betrayed by Musica Diablo and Act of War by Lich King.

Also it is worth listening to a preview of all songs to be released each week (5 songs, it won't take long) and try and not care if they are "popular" or not. You might find some hidden gems here and there.

But yeah only suggestions, your money.

Sadly the PS3 cant preview tracks (im not talking about audio previews) Id love if i could try some out. And I actually do listen to the previews every week in the music store. Also, my tastes in metal are "everything sucks unless its something I LOVE". Its kinda hard to suggest metal to me, because I hate most of it. And Fuji, I actually am familiar and kinda like all of those bands (save for amberian dawn who I cant stand, despite their huge popularity on rbn) but just not really the tracks that are available.

I know the RBN shouldnt be expected to give me AAA quality tracks, but some familiarity after what has proven that CAN be put out, coupled with so many broken promises that were in my opinion, VERY exciting when they were announced, and the tendency to release the same genres over and over again

    Andromeda
    Cynic
    Deadlock
    Kaipa
    Mastodon
    Neonfly
    Stagehands

We have the same list of genres to choose from, but RBN has used more of them (namely Classical, Fusion, and Latin).
