I know that I will be buying a second gaming system when I finally move back into my house. I have the XBOX 360 currently and that will have a permanent home in my home office (so I can finally play RB whenever I want).

As for the second console, that remains to be seen. I bought the XBOX specifically for RB3. Since it's purchase I have installed Portals2, Quarrel (Risk meets Scrabble), Risk Factions and downloaded several demos of games that I never got around to purchasing the full versions of.

It kind of goes without saying that the second console I get needs to support RB. With the WiiU being the only console of the next breed to supposedly do that, it might be the best contender for the living room location. Alternatively, I could purchase a second XBOX 360 or a playstation 3 for the living room. There are distinct advantages to both, which I assume everyone can already suss out for themselves. It's not going to be an easy decision at all. Even if my wife allowed me to get two additional consoles, it would still be a tough, if not tougher choice.

Going to have to just see where my research (studied the differences between PS3 and XBOX 360 for about a week before pulling the trigger on the XBOX) takes me.

Will there be a new Rockband for PS4/X-box 720?
    Hello there!
I am a long time RB-user and have had ALL Rockband-games so far (some GH as well).
As the new generation of consoles is approaching I am wondering what intention the rockband-franchise is going to have.
Will there be a next-gen rockband game? will the old intruments be compatible or are we expected to buy new/technically advanced instruments?
    Any news or thoughts?

    Greetings from Vienna, Austria

HMX *just* announced they were ending DLC production for the foreseeable future and have said multiple times they are not working on any future RB titles.

    So no.

I am aware of the DLC-situation for the current gen - as I am a huge fan - but I thought that this might hint that they are maybe working on or planning something new for the next gen.
But I haven't read any official that they will definitely NOT bring the rockband-experience to the next gen. only thing I read that there will be no RB4 this year, but.....
    But if you say so....

It's been stated with no amount of joy that HMX has no plans on working on any instrument, in fact any music related games for the upcoming systems. The people that speak for HMX on these forums have been fielding hopeful questions for weeks about this issue and there has been less than a glimmer of hope forthcoming.

If anything were even on the backburners, I am certain HMX would have thrown us a bone.

We're all saddened by the news, but the truth is the truth.

There's nothing in the works now, but like Street fighter 4 and the fighting genre the music game genre could have a resurgence in popularity 5 years down the road, and there will be a RB on the next gen platforms.

However nothing is in development now, so IF (and it's a big if) that this does happen I wouldn't expect it any time soon (IE the next three or four years).

Harmonix was interviewed on the PS4 release show.

For what? A new amplitude game ?

    I'm feeling more confident.

There's nothing for certain at the moment, besides the fact that there are none CURRENTLY in development. There might be one later if music games become popular again, but as of right now, nothing.

Harmonix could be making some other type of music game that does not involve performing the songs. Or something completely different from anything they've done so far, who knows.

I think the only way we'll see a new Rock Band type game is if Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin became a possibility.

All good things come to an end. If Activi$ion gave up on the genre that means there is nothing left to milk out of it, and they had Guitar Hero, which everyone has heard of.

I think this genre has just run its course. Who can foresee gaming stores filling up with plastic guitars again?

Bet a combat, fighting, or puzzle game.
