Just one thing to add to my original post...
Part of a good community is actually getting something out of being part of the community. It could be knowledge about something that you didn't know or it could be something else. The point is that after 1 month of being a member, I do not feel I have gained anything by being a member/contributor to the community.
All I get, is sifting through pages and pages of posts about complaints and arguing. Or some Musician Elitist telling me what music is good and what is not (like I can't make up my own mind).
I truly have absolutely no reason to return, but I do hoping to finally get something out of being a member.
I belong to a Golf Forum also. It is not sponsored by any Corporation and is privately owned. Every once in a blue moon we might get Corporate Presence within the Forum from a company such as Callaway, Ping, Taylor Made, etc. It's a nice bonus, but not expected since it's not a forum owned and operated by any Manufacturer.
But, when Callaway hosted their own forum for a limited time, they had company Presence all over that place. If you were posting a question about say, the Callaway Golf Balls cover, the next day, you'll see a response from the VP of Golf Ball Cover Design (dramatized example).
I guess, my point is, since Harmonix is Hosting/Sponsoring this forum, I would guess many of the people who have joined, did so b/c they felt they might have direct communications with the development team. Maybe get some inside information or perhaps give direct feedback to the developers and watch it potentially become a reality (not that this would really happen any time soon, again, an dramatization).
Just my 2 cents. Great Game, poor community.
