Just one thing to add to my original post...

Part of a good community is actually getting something out of being part of the community. It could be knowledge about something that you didn't know or it could be something else. The point is that after 1 month of being a member, I do not feel I have gained anything by being a member/contributor to the community.

All I get, is sifting through pages and pages of posts about complaints and arguing. Or some Musician Elitist telling me what music is good and what is not (like I can't make up my own mind).

I truly have absolutely no reason to return, but I do hoping to finally get something out of being a member.

I belong to a Golf Forum also. It is not sponsored by any Corporation and is privately owned. Every once in a blue moon we might get Corporate Presence within the Forum from a company such as Callaway, Ping, Taylor Made, etc. It's a nice bonus, but not expected since it's not a forum owned and operated by any Manufacturer.

But, when Callaway hosted their own forum for a limited time, they had company Presence all over that place. If you were posting a question about say, the Callaway Golf Balls cover, the next day, you'll see a response from the VP of Golf Ball Cover Design (dramatized example).

I guess, my point is, since Harmonix is Hosting/Sponsoring this forum, I would guess many of the people who have joined, did so b/c they felt they might have direct communications with the development team. Maybe get some inside information or perhaps give direct feedback to the developers and watch it potentially become a reality (not that this would really happen any time soon, again, an dramatization).

Just my 2 cents. Great Game, poor community.

I'm not sure if this issue has been addressed yet...

I think what the community needs to help clean up the garbage and flaming is more moderators. As it stands, 5 moderators for hundreds of posters in thousands of topics is quite lacking. More members who understand the rules should be on hand to move threads to proper locations, assist confused users, and nip flaming in the bum before it gets out of hand. I have some moderating experience myself and would be willing to volunteer my time to help sort through the garbage and address meaningful posters.

Another suggestion to help improve the Ultimate Setlist forum, try implementing sub forums to help alleviate the overflow of topics. Try to use several sub forums for each genre to help people gather effective discussion on a certain band or song. I believe this one has already been mentioned, but it bears repeating as it should help organize the forums.

I realize you must have a lot on your plates at this time (being such an awesome company), but I hope you take my suggestions into consideration.

    Quote:

Create a DLC Forum, leave it completely unmoderated, and just let people whine about the fact that their favorite band was not included in this weeks DLC. If you look at the General Rock Band Forum, 80% are "I Don't Like This Weeks DLC", 10% are about Online BWT, 5% about the PS3 Guitar Hero Patch. Leaving 5% for an actual question about the game, or something fun.
    Seconded.

    "Lola" - The Kinks

    "Coming Home" - The Scorpions

"Jumping Jack Flash" - The Rolling Stones

    "Beat It" - Michael Jackson

"Ocean Breathes Salty" - Modest Mouse

    "Brighton Rock" - Queen

.....That is all. Thank You for your time.

Any post that has any reference to DLC whatsoever should be moved to a subforum. Then anyone who wants to stay sane can ignore it entirely.

Alright, I think we've gotten a lot of decent information out of this thread. If you absolutely have something that you feel needs to be said, please feel free to toss me a private message.

Now, to address a few of the big things people are talking about.

    1. More insight into bands considered/DLC.
We really can't provide more information than we do. Imagine if we announced that a band was being considered, and then there was a community backlash. Deals can be sensitive, and we don't want to jeopardize those deals and/or alienate the artists in the process. When we can do something special, we will.

    2. Performance.
I think people will see this steadily improve over the coming months. Ramping up the community site has been a learning experience for all of us. The big thing at this point is improving basic functionality and performance. We're aware of the issues and are working hard to make fixes and improvements. We thank you for your patience.
