Thanks Stew.
For me the best modern bands are:
Los Lonely Boys (FREAKIN AWESOME)
Jet
Year Long Disaster (singer/guitar player is Daniel Davies son of Ray Davies)
Oasis
Black Stone Cherry (these guys rock hard)
Les Savy Fav has a song called "The Equestrian" on their latest album thats rockish and has an almost glammy sing along in it.
Somebody mentioned QOTSA in another post and said NIN I think? I, uh, dont actually hear that at all, but they do have that sludgy Sabbath-like geetar sound. But I dont think they are very classic rock sounding really other than that.
And we should all be able to pick up that Bang Camaro (not saying they are good though) blatantly rip-offs Def Leppard.
I wouldn't say they are just rip-offs of Def Leppard. If you have heard their entire album they have a lot of heavier stuff, but even on their myspace they say they sound like a lot of other 80s bands. I like them and if you like 80s music than their CD is definitely worth buying.
Guess, everything ive heard reminds me of "On through the Night" and "Pyro-mania". Havent heard the whole album but heard a handful of songs, other than the RB track.
But then again I remember everyone saying the Strokes sounded like Television and I really dont think they did at all, maybe slightly on "Is this it" but only very slightly.
This is from Bang Camaro's myspace:
"Boston’s Bang Camaro is more than a metal band. It is its own metal universe: a self-contained cosmos encompassing the last quarter-century of metal -- pop metal, hair metal, speed metal, thrash metal, glam metal -- writ large, proud, and loud.
Yes, you’ve heard all the riffs before, back when you were a kid hanging in a heavy-metal parking lot in the ’burbs, cranking Dio or Iron Maiden . Like fellow throwbacks Waltham and Damone, Bang Camaro -- a supergroup of sorts consisting of members of some of Boston’s best past and present rock bands (the Good North, Model Sons, Taxpayer) -- is all about the good times that were shunted aside and put away as "adulthood" beckoned.
The Camaro’s debut full-length rights this wrong with tracks like the Thin Lizzy-esque "Rock of Mages," the narcissistic grandeur of "You Know I Like My Band," and, of course, a power ballad ingeniously titled "The Ballad." Fear not: Bang Camaro has come to save our sorry, rock-depleted souls, and it’s taking no prisoners."

Basically they admit that they rip off of other bands, but they add it all together to make a general 80s sound. I personally love the metal from the 80s so Bang Camaro is great for me and their first CD was awesome, but if you don't like 80s music your probably not going to like them. Also is 80s music considered classic now?
Alright here is round 2 for my new bands. I am not only going to post bands that sound like straight classic rock. I'm going to post some bands across some different genres as well.
