No it doesn't stop it completely, just if i choose it in a make your own setlist it does, if you have a song that isn't a lego rock band song you can't choose short mode anymore =P

It is a brilliant game, and after 2 months (and a break from achievements) here I am with my 1000/1000, from my first achievement on 9/9 to my last on 9/11 =)

On the beatles there's a seperate leaderboard for solo and harmony vocals so you wouldn't 'get screwed of a good score' at all, unless you choose harmonies \=
