Could someone define post-hardcore for me? I've never really understood what makes it a genre. Not really punk but a branch...

Just started my collection. Got Hemispheres and AWB a couple days ago and I got Kezia last night when I went to see protest....
I looked for that thread last night, and only now am I seeing it.

So I've just started my vinyl collection with Hemisphere's by Rush, AWB by Average White Band and Kezia by Protest The Hero. I only have one problem, I don't know where to start when it comes down to...
I'm pretty partial to the Western and Eastern Plaguelands. However, Howling Fjord is pretty cool too. ;)
Oh for sure; but more often in metal than in other genres? That's debatable.
I disagree on the mainly used in metal part. I agree , lots of metal drummers have a wide array of splash cymbals, but I rarely hear them used a lot in songs. I think the fast crash, ride and china...

It's pretty damned complicated if you don't know what you're doing. Not user-friendly at all.
Devin Townsend has an amazing voice, screaming and in clean vocals.
They don't sound altogether the same, but the style is very similar.
Really? I don't think they sound at all like Fall of Troy. Maybe I'm missing something.
Also can someone explain to me what is not progressive about Protest the Hero.
