And thats why I say thats what modern hardcore is. Now the earlier hardcore was more aggressive form of punk like you had put.

Even Motley Crue had a heavier sound then most of the Glam bands. But they had Ballads just like every other Glam Band.

Honestly the trees isn't one of my favorite songs by them. I don't really care for it. But that is just my opinion as well.

Basically hardcore is all screaming vocals mixed a few parts of high pitch singing. Thats what the modern view of it is.
