It works but to really dampening the sound I would suggest that you put on some drumsilencer rubber. I did it and that made some serious difference.

My ION cymbals are now much more quiet then the pads on the ION kit, I cant hardly hear them and with more rebound then the unmoded cymbals. It took some while to find out what was making the noise...
