I had 2 weeks of vacation left this year, so I took the whole week off during the rock band 3 release. I sure hope Amazon gets me the game on time (or earlier would be good too :)).

It could be that the video you saw was old. Before this last rockband 2 patch on the xbox 360 all hits showed up as full hits because the velocity sensitivity was broken in one of the games earlier...
