21st Century Schizoid Man's long been my most requested song.
Personally, I would like to play both jams at the end. No BRE's for me, please.
I love Okkervil as much as the next guy, but I just can't see them working all too well in Rock Band. I feel that playing through one of their songs on a video game would ruin the experience of...
The Joggers - With a Cape and a Cane (album)
Sloppy, insanely fun-sounding guitar riffs, haunting vocals, driving bass lines, and kinetic, varied drums. Listen to this album and you'll soon agree...
Throwing the The Chameleons out there. They're like Interpol - Three Decades + Joy Division = Awesome.

Add Minus the Bear and Kleenex Girl Wonder to the first post as bands that need help. That **** is too tight not to mention.
I'd gladly take all of Long Drive by Modest Mouse any day. Why stop at just 1 song mention?

1. Beat it - Michael Jackson (THRILLAAAAAA!)
2. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne (would be great fun to play)
3. Obstacle 1 - Interpol (awesome song)
I'd count them as well known. I've seen more pathetic excuses for "obscure" in this thread, though (Flogging Molly, Mudhoney, Bullet For my Valentine, etc)
Here's my picks:

Merry Go Bye Bye - Mr. Bungle
Misty Mountain Hop - Led Zeppelin

HMX needs to bring back the Funk! What wouldn't be fun with a funky fresh tune in Rock Band? The subtle, distinct twang of the funk guitar, the entrancing and pulse-pounding funk beats, the...

Holy ****, Montana.
It will never happen, but it's just a wishlist.
New Bloc Party album is hopefully a maybe for one of the "alternative albums" this year. It fits the HMX bill perfectly.
I would have been happier with Permanent Waves, but now that an instrumental is going to be in Rock Band, many important doors have been opened. Hooray for doorknob weeks!
