If they were signed to a US label and their first singles flopped as badly in the US as they did in the 60's, they would have been cut by their label after the first album.

It was actually around 3-to-2 for the Beatles in the US if vgchartz is halfway accurate.

vgchartz estimates US sales as 623,000 for Beatles, 626,000 for GH5 to date. That's 3 or 4 days vs. 11 or 12 days.
