You might need to describe what you've attempted to do so far...are you plugging the headset into the controller? or an instrument? I think there's issues with plugging the mic into the instruments.

yes, singing anywhere below the target note is considered 'flat', anywhere above the target note is considered 'sharp'. By flat, they mean 'without vibrato'

You'd be fine with a heel down style of playing though (mostly)
This won't work so well if you play with a 'foot down' style. Once one pedal is down, the circuit is closed, and the other pedal will not trigger the drum.
