Sometimes re-records are not labeled. Such as the Testament one for example. Not sure who makes that call, the artist/label, HMX, or randomness...
They had no problem advertising the Jimmy Buffet songs as re-records.

In the analogy you are trying to make, playing online with people equates to people coming to your house to hear a CD. And yeah, like I said it's a flawed analogy that doesn't really work.
I haven't tried this but you should also be able to hit the Back button to activate, right? Reach over with the pinky of your strumming hand ;)
The sarcasm falls flat because it isn't really applicable. Does everyone who comes to your house need to buy the CD in order to hear you play it, and if they have the wrong version do they need to...
I'm a big supporter of Harmonix and Pro Guitar, but I won't pay full price for the same songs again. I don't mind paying a reasonable 'upgrade' charge to add the new stuff but that's it.
