Ion Drum Rocker Problems

I finally received my PS Ion and I absolutely love it!! It will definitely take me a little while to retrain myself with the new setup. I have a question and a comment.

Question: I’m aware that x360 users lost velocity sensitivity last week due to a rock band patch, (which Harmonix says is only temporary). It also doesn’t seem to work on my new PS set. I need to know if this is a rock band issue, or is there a problem with my new set. So my question is to the PS Ion users… Does the velocity sensitivity currently work? Thanks for your input on this matter.

Comment: Last week I read that a couple people were having weird things happen with their new PS sets. One example was that from the song menu screen, without touching a pad it would back out of that screen. Well, I experienced this too and was able to discover that it was static electricity causing it. Any static electricity discharge occurring within about 3-4 feet of the set would cause this…EVERY TIME! I switched out the chair I was using and that solved my problem. Hope this helps any of you with “weird” acting modules.

The (hopefully temporary) loss of velocity sensitivity since the recent patch is annoying, but I could live with it. Is it possible that patch could also cause double hits, though? After some adjustments, my cymbals were working well consistently before the patch. Now they register double and triple hits during every song...

I got the ion after the patch, so i never was able to experiment with VS. However, i am getting all kinds of double hits that should not be happening. This is especially evident in freestyle mode. Is there anything i can do to counteract these, or is this a flaw in RB2 or the ion set i have?

I've had my Ion for 3 days now and every game session it has "disconnected" during the middle of a song. I've emailed Ion, we'll see what happens. This is very disappointing

I have the same problem too on my PS3 version. Started with this happening once every 5 or 6 songs. Now it's every 4 notes...very annoying.

I had to call Numark (Ion mfg) 1-401-658-3131 and send the controller back for repair (or replacement if it can't be fixed).

Hopefully it won't take too long...

When playing my Ion in freestyle mode, i cannot play the hihat and the hi-tom at the same time. They are both yellow pads, so maybe that is why they both wont register at the same time. However, it is freestyle mode and you should be able to play a hihat and a tom at the same time. This is also the case with the floortom and crash symbol, you cannot play them simultaneously. Anybody getting anything different than i am or is this normal?

I didn't have any sensitivity problems but I did have a major problem within the first few songs, the damn thing would just cut out! The PS3 said my controller was unhooked. It now cuts out on almost every song, sometimes with the message and sometimes just going dead with no message! I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?

what was your experience like with the warranty? I've had nothing but hell with my billing issues. I'm scared to call to replace my controller :S

I just now have had the disconnect/reconnect issue with the game. I was sitting and talking with a friend and it just disconnected and reconnected with in 5 seconds. I also noticed that I couldn't navigate the XMB. I disconnected the controller and reconnected (physically) and was then able to navigate. I don't want to wait until it gets worse as I'm already having issues with the non sensitive cymbals.

I want to know what to expect when I call up. Do I front the shipping charge back to ION? do they simply replace, or attempt to repair. Do they give you much hassle in terms of doing the warranty work? Has anyone even received their controller back since sending it out?

I'm really beginning to regret this purchase

I want to buy the Ion drums like nobody's business, but all the comments on this thread make me wonder if I should wait or what. Stock RB drums have been taking a beating, but who wants to commit $300 to something that seems to be faulted. Any advice? Should I hold out or take my chances?

Like i have said in this thread somewhere, I have the ION set (360) version and have never had a prob with it.

Its like anyting you buy sometimes you get and iffy one im affraid.
