Ion Drum Rocker Problems

I would get the Roland CY8's as cymbals above the Pintech's.

Perhaps you should actually do some research before you state things like that. The Roland CY-8's do not work well with the Ion kit because of their piezo-switch configuration.

I might have to try your solution. Just within the past few days, I've gotten a few random disconnects on my 360 set; never had a problem before. But I've also been running my wood stove these past few days, and so the air is pretty dry around everything where the drums and console are.

put an old pot filled with water on top of the stove. i did that at my parents house and it will help put some moisture in the air.

also, do you have the velcro on the bottom of the pedal? ION tells you to have it on there to help ground it. if you want to ground your pedal, get a wire and connect it to the pedal and attach the other end to something. you could attach it to some metal on your tv, or stereo or something electronic cause it is grounded thru your outlet.

So - after much troubleshooting and scuffing around on the carpet we have in fact proven that this is related to static electricity. We are going to get a discharge mat like we use in server rooms, and the problem should be solved. Meanwhile, a box of dryer sheets will be near the drum kit.

what was your experience like with the warranty? I've had nothing but hell with my billing issues. I'm scared to call to replace my controller :S

I just now have had the disconnect/reconnect issue with the game. I was sitting and talking with a friend and it just disconnected and reconnected with in 5 seconds. I also noticed that I couldn't navigate the XMB. I disconnected the controller and reconnected (physically) and was then able to navigate. I don't want to wait until it gets worse as I'm already having issues with the non sensitive cymbals.

I want to know what to expect when I call up. Do I front the shipping charge back to ION? do they simply replace, or attempt to repair. Do they give you much hassle in terms of doing the warranty work? Has anyone even received their controller back since sending it out?

I'm really beginning to regret this purchase

I called the number on their website, which is the one I gave on page 8 of this thread. The first time it took 45 minutes to get the right person. The next time it only took 5 minutes because I called earlier at 9am in the morning.

Once I told them the issues, they took down all my information and gave me a RA (return authorization) number. Then I gave them my email address and they emailed me a pre-paid UPS shipping label. I boxed up the controller well, placed the shipping label on the front along with the RA number and sent it out free through UPS.

I was told they will try and fix it first, which could take up to 8 days. If they could not fix it they would replace it. Since it's the holidays, I don't expect it here until mid January honestly.

So far I have not received mine back yet, nor do I have any idea where in the system my controller is now. But I will be tracking that down when I get back to work.

Got the water pot, but it doesn't put out ENOUGH moisture for the stove.

I've got one of the 360 kits with metal screws, not velcro. Guess I can run a wire from one of those hooks to ground it.

thanks for the info on sending the controller back. I am still going to be looking at this option. my forearm is getting tired from hitting the hihat so hard

I just wanted to add that I too have concluded that it is static that is causing the disconnects. all I have to do is move my pedal around on the carpet and it'll disconnect/reconnect. lol, sad.

And even babies crawling on the floor who touch one of the legs will generate enough of a static charge to disconnect. Found that one out tonight. Guess I need to wrap my daughter in dryer sheets before I rock out.

I picked up my Ion kit and have been playing it for about a week now (10-year drummer, expert RB drummer). I love this kit, and makes RB a completely new game.

The only gripe I have is when I use one of the cymbals as a hi-hat (yellow), it misses every 3rd or 4th note (when playing 16ths). I ended up using cymbals for blue and green as a ride/crash combination.

I also noticed that I have to hit the cymbals a little harder (especially when riding) to make sure all the notes register.

My kit did disconnect randomly from time to time, but when I unplugged the kit from my xbox360 hub and put it straight into the console, it seems to have solved the problem.

The pad rebound is fantastic (I'm coming straight from my original RB1 kit, so it's a huge difference to me). Now that the kit is completely set up the way I like, I'm in heaven. Such a great option for real-life drummers who live in apartments (or condos, like me ) who can't have an accoustic set.

Now I have to pick up a 3rd cymbal for the hi-hat and a brain.

Anyway, here's my new baby:

I had the same problem with my cymbals missing and after proper adjustments in free play mode they work great without missing a beat.
Start loose on the top wing nut and while playing 8th notes keep tightening until you get no dropped notes. I had my HiHat angled down so my sticks were just hitting the rubber with the tips and that didn't work out. Now I have it more level like a real HiHat would be and hit more of the edge and probably 2-3 inches of stick and it never misses now.
Same with the crash I had it angled down to hit the rubber with just the tips now its more closer to level and hit it like a crash suppose to be hit.

They are very loud doing it like this but that is why most get them replaced. Just keep messing with them in freestyle mode and you will get them perfect.
