AFP reports that AC/DC's "Black Ice", METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" and GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" were among the top-selling albums of 2008 globally, according to new figures from the London-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the recording industry worldwide.

01. COLDPLAY - "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" - I have wanted to check this one out, maybe I should.
02. AC/DC - "Black Ice" - I can enjoy AC/DC when the time is right, however that time isn't very often. I have heard most the album and to me it brings nothing that you cannot get in classic AC/DC. Plus, the ****ing Walmart exclusive kills it for me. **** that.
03. Various Artists - "Mamma Mia! The Movie Soundtrack Featuring The Songs Of ABBA" - I will admit it, I went to this play with my wife and enjoyed it. That said, no way I am buying the soundtrack.
04. DUFFY - "Rockferry" - Have no idea who this is.
05. METALLICA - "Death Magnetic" - I should check it out, but I just know that for the most part my metal days are behind me. The only time it comes on is when I get together with my college buddies and unfortunately that doesn't happen much anymore.
06. LEONA LEWIS - "Spirit " - Have no idea who this is.
07. AMY WINEHOUSE - "Back To Black" - I can dig it, but it has hits and misses.
08. Various Artists - "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" - ****
09. LIL WAYNE - "Tha Carter III" - Have heard of him but have never heard his music. Might give it a shot sometime.
10. RIHANNA - "Good Girl Gone Bad" - Have no idea who this is.
11. MADONNA - "Hard Candy" - Should of stopped a LONG time ago.
12. BEYONCE - "I Am... Sasha Fierce" - I am not certain but I believe everyone gets a copy of this album as part of Obamas 'stimulus' plan.
13. PINK - "Funhouse" - Haven't heard, hopefully never will.
14. GUNS N' ROSES - "Chinese Democracy" - I give this album a very big 'OK.' Next time I listen to GNR it will NOT be this album.
15. BRITNEY SPEARS - "Circus" - She made a new album?
16. JACK JOHNSON - "Sleep Through The Static" - Haven't heard this album either, damn I don't get out much. He is enjoyable, but not much to write home about.
17. IL DIVO - "The Promise" - Have no idea who this is.
18. TAYLOR SWIFT - "Fearless" - Fearful
19. JONAS BROTHERS - "A Little Bit Longer" - What? Did they hit puberty? Haven't heard, never will.
20. Various Artists - "Camp Rock" - WTF are they talking about? How 'various' are these people that they got them on an album called 'Camp Rock?'


I won't say music is going downhill, top 40 music has almost always sucked. It is just that the suck now is more annoying than it used to be. Maybe I am just getting old.

Everywhere you see articles about disappointing sales for Chinese Democracy, yet it's 14th on the list! How many deserving artists do you think would sell their soul for that spot???

Something is seriously f'd up about the whole record industry when #14 is a marketing failure.
