It does require digitized stems of master tracks, yes. It does not require access to the original masters, and it does [B]not[\b] (theoretically) require any remixing on Harmonix's part. That is to say, they would create the charts for the game, but they would not touch the audio. That's a far cry from what happens most of the time, and if someone Page trusts were doing the actual mixing, and Harmonix was just doing the charting, he might feel differently.

Well no. Because this requires masters and the stems. An MP3 wouldn't work. And if you didn't have the rights to it it could lead to bigger problems.

    I don't understand.

This means we can make RB tracks and they will be posted later for others to purchase?

As of right now there are not any plans for a "free" option on RBN songs.

This means REAL BANDS can chart their own songs (for a fee) and submit them for review and possible approval, in hopes of possibly making it to the REAL RB2 marketplace for download.

    How? Fee?

    Wut?

And does this only affect Xbox users?

    How:
Harmonix is putting up several tools for use for a band to take their own master tracks, mix them properly, chart it, and set the character animations, just like the actual people at HMX do.

    Fee:
This all works on Microsoft's XNA game development system, which costs $100 a year to use.

    Xbox:
TECHNICALLY. Because of the fact that currently only Microsoft has given HMX the proper tools, it will take them a while to get the service up and running for all the consoles, but they are working on it, and even before the entire service is up and running select content that is good will be hand picked and ported to the other two along the way.

Fee as in it requires a development license to be able to publish and upload your material.
