    Images & Words vs Awake

Dream Theater's Images & Words vs Dream Theater's Awake.

Which album do you prefer? And why?

    I&W.

    'Cause it's awesome.
I will not remove this until Badmotorfinger is offered as full-album DLC.

    Explanation:

While I enjoy Images And Words I personally think Awake was DT's best album and A Mind Beside Itself is a good epic

Awake. Images and Words has some fantastic songs, but as a whole Awake is simply the far more balanced and well-produced work.

Honestly, I think I agree. I&W had better individual songs ('Pull Me Under,' 'Metropolis Part 1,' 'Learning to Live') but Awake had more flow as an album.

That and Awake had 'A Mind Beside Itself,' so yeah. My vote goes in that direction too.

Awake has Lifting Shadows off a Dream and Innocence Faded.
I&W has Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper and Pull Me Under.

I'd say Awake wins, but by very little.

I always enjoyed Images and Words more, even if it didn't flow as well.
Not removing this until we get some Sunn O)))
in which case this will be on for a while.

Awake may be a more cohesive album, but I still prefer Images And Words. There are simply no standout tracks like Pull Me Under and The Miracle And The Sleeper on Awake, at least to me. I still rank them both in the middle overall.

    Images and Words

Nothing beats Metropolis, Take The Time, and Under A Glass Moon.
