I berate -- er, thank -- my friend Spatch for this same favor. Only it was the Xbox 360, not the original Xbox. (I've been awfully stubborn about owning consoles, so I only JUST got this in August after the last two years of playing games at his house.)

You're absolutely right - that is parenting!
Being currently kid-free, I have to settle for memories of corrupting my little brother into gaming, but I do hope to be that same kind of parent someday.

The first game I remember playing was Pac-Man for the Atari 2600. My dad quit playing the video games when I beat him at something when I was 4 or so the story goes.
I guess I was luck in a way that I had the Eye Doctor's seal of approval. He said it would help with my depth perception or something like that since I am legally blind in one eye. Video games have been in my life ever since. Thanks DOC!!!

I think I probably played them before this, but I mainly remember playing SNES as my first console. My dad's friend gave him it, but I'm not sure why. I remember a number of games I used to play... Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Mario Paint, Mario All-Stars, and a bunch of other SNES games.
Super nostalgic.

My parents weren't big on video games (though they made occasional exceptions) so most of my knowledge grew from my best friend's collection. Although I have a cousin to thank for introducing me to the Genesis and this crazy violent game called Mortal Kombat. My mom would have been upset if she had found out no doubt.

I don't think I ever beat it either, it's super tough especially when you can't save on NES. I tried playing it on an emulator and actually going through the whole game but it kept freezing at the second hospital. I don't think I'll ever know what happens!

Started on an NES. Playing Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers 3, Sky Shark (let's see kids today beat that), Ice Climber, Jackal, Tecmo Super Bowl, Tecmo Basketball, Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle, MLB Baseball, and eventually games like Mega Man, Mega Man 6, Bases Loaded, Dr. Mario, Mario Brothers 2
i also played PC games, mostly the FPS, Duke Nukem 3D, Rise of the Triad, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 2, Hexen, Heretic, etc. and when i wasn't playing the PC or NES, i watched my dad play, that's when he taught me about Hitler, and weapons, and football, and whatnot
played them all in the basement of the house, never had another system until i played Mega Man X on a friend's SNES, which was about when the SNES was going out, (got my Sega Genesis when the Pokemon craze hit, eventually got a Game Boy), didn't actually hit any game crazes head on until my Gamecube, then i started making my own money...and well....that's when i got ahead of the curve
