The reason why I'm disregarding that statement is because I believe it applies only to the Main Event at Times Square. If you read further, there's information specifically regarding that event, such as whether or not each band member can show up to New York at the given time. Besides, not only can you not have a 5-member Battle of the Bands, but the Battle page stated that the "top band or solo artist" would get prizes; that would signify only one person playing, and the rules stated above that the band needs to consist of at least 3 members.
I concluded that these rules probably won't apply to the Battle, though there is the possibility that new rules will be published before the Battle actually commences.
