Don't know if they are in town for South By Southwest...Local Austin band called the Black Angels are awesome. Would be a great DLC addition. Anyways, have fun. Austin is a great town.

I don't know if I'd consider myself to be a "hardcore" MMJ fan, but I do own copies of "It Still Moves" and "Z" and have seen them in concert obviously so give me a little credit here. I'll just re-phrase the whole thing:
When I saw MMJ in concert they extended the instrumental sections on a few songs to the point where I got a little bored. And to make it more annoying, there were a couple frat guys/DMB fans standing next to me who were high-fiving each other throughout these song portions.
I do like the band though, they have some great songs, and both albums I own are really good, this is just an issue of my personal taste.
Oh, and since you like them, I recommend checking out Band of Horses as well if you haven't already. They've got some similar qualities.
Oh crap, somehow I didn't see Spoon in the band listing my first time around, maybe they were added late or something. Anyway, make sure you see them tonight (Thursday, the 13th) 8:00 at Auditorium Shores Stage. They're pretty much the greatest rock band in existence...their last 5 albums are all classics.

As a Texan and an Indie rock fan, I have to second Spoon.
Of course, they've made quite the name for themselves via the Stranger than Fiction soundtrack, so it's not as hard to find people outside of Texas who know about them these days.
I am also a huge fan of a band called Calhoun. The guys are from Ft. Worth and their lead man Tim Locke is the former front man for the Grand Street Criers as well as the backup vocalist/guitarist for Flickerstick.
Calhoun plays March 15th: 8:00 p.m. Creekside EMC at Hilton Garden Inn
Some of you will blast them as too poppy if you check out their stuff on myspace, but I promise you, some of their tunes get pretty revved up.
Sorry to come down on you, I just hate the "jam band" label!
Anyway...I feel you on Band of Horses! They came to Louisville, KY last month and the show was awesome. I would love to see them on RB!
You should definitely pick up "At Dawn" by MMJ....it should blow your mind!
Since its so close to St. Paddy's day, make sure you check out Blaggards, an Irish rock band based out of Houston. I used to see them paly every month or so in College Station, and they have a truly awesome energy when they perform live. Check them out at www.blaggards.com. You can also find a couple of videos of them on youtube, but the videos are old and really poor quality. They also have a Myspace page.
I swear I've seen like five threads on this site that end up degenerating into "We need MMJ - One Big Holiday in Rock Band." I love it. This song (and the band in general) would be AMAZING in Rock Band.
Harmonix - make it happen!
I also vote for "One Big Holiday" from My Morning Jacket. It'd be perfect for Rock Band. Sh*t, they should have their own three pack with One Big Holiday, Run Thru and What a Wonderful Man.
I also vote for The Black Angels and Spoon. I've seen these three bands live and they rock.

Check out the band "Tyler Read"!!! They were on tour with Puddle Of Mudd and are a great band. Would love to see some DLC from them!!!
