It's more of a matter of whether the main Rock Band Platform™ is strong enough that enough people would pay to play the same songs they already have, but without the artistic style of The Beatles: Rock Band.
I don't know if they would pay $120 for the original game plus the option to export? I personally bought the game because of the songs ... could care less about the avatar that is playing it. Some of the dreamscapes actually gave me a headache.

At the end of the day most are looking at the songs, are they fun or not? ... If part of the original $60 went towards the dreamscape, venues, and avatars then I would be fine with an additional $10-30 export fee.

Certainly people would pay to play the songs in the main platform. I've spoken with a couple of players I know that chose not to buy the game because it was walled off. If not for my wife I too would have been in that group.

The game play itself - avatars, dreamscapes, and even harmonies isn't enough to sell the game to the casual player. People will always look for added value. I believe that is one factor that has people migrating more and more to the Rock Band Platform versus other music games.

Here's the thing though, you say the "casual player" didn't buy the game because it's "walled off". Fine, that's their prerogative. However, what I think is lost in this is not the casual Rock Band player, but the BEATLE FANS. Sure, the casual Rock Band player wants to mix and match songs from every game. Beatle fans, such as myself, more than likely own only one ONE Rock Band related game (The Beatles Rock Band), and have zero interest in playing any other Rock Band game, or music title for that matter.

I'll tell you something, I did buy Rock Band 2 primarily for the Paul McCartney tracks that were released for it, and I QUICKLY stopped playing it. Why, you might ask? Because I got sick of having to play songs by artists I had absolutely no use for. Apart from Cheap Trick, Squeeze, The Who, and The Replacements, I didn't give a rats patoot about any of the other alleged "artists" in the game. And I absolutely ABHORRED the career mode. I found myself quitting out of songs because I didn't want to play tracks, as I describe them, by guys that if they were playing in my backyard I would have to call the cops on them. For people such as myself and countless other Beatle fans, an export code holds zero interest.

I still say this is a generational thing. Beatle fans who grew up on the music know their catalog stands alone. It doesn't mix well with other artists. Many who grew up in the "digital age" are so used to making playlists, and downloading one song at a time are a bit confused as to why they would not want their songs exported. To many of you it's "just files". There's nothing special about songs, they all look exactly the same (a diamond with a lightning bolt through it).

There's a saying in music circles; there's The Beatles and then there's everyone else. I think Harmonix knows this and is respectful of their music, and their legacy.

The reason I wish you could export is my friends dont mind playing beatles songs but they also want to mix in other stuff in to setlists. That way we are all satisfied.

I still do not see why anyone is opposed to OPTIONAL exporting. If you are that big a fan of the dreamscapes and avatars then don't export. If you are that big a fan of the Beatles then don't export. For that matter, if you believe that generic avatars have no business singing a Green Day, Boston, the Who, or any other band's mmusic and are distasteful then don't buy any music games that don't use the band's avatars. That means no RB 1 , 2, or 3. I do not understand the outcries against exporting TBRB. It would only be optional.

I see optional exporting as a plus, but I do respect their opinion to not export.

I totally respect their decision to personally not export. I disagree with their view that the option of exporting this game is wrong and should not happen. I see tons of bands that people request for ultimate setlist material that I have no interest in ever purchasing. Guess what, I am not bashing the idea that they could come to rockband. I welcome the option of purchasing them or not purchasing them. If it makes a fellow gamer happy to have a band I am not interested in then so be it. When posters bash the idea of exporting instead of merely saying they personally are not interested then it is little different from saying "Harmonix never release band "x" because I don;t want them.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you really think this game will ever be exportable to the main Rock Band platform. It will never happen, under any circumstances.

I don't think that would help the Beatles at all. HMX already knows a Beatles Export would sell a lot already without looking at GH numbers, especially if it's updated for Pro-mode and Keys in RB3, but it was the agreement between the Beatles and the estates of the dead to keep the song in the Beatles game only...for now...

I would have bought TB:RB if it exported. That was the sole reason I did not buy it.

Then you're not a Beatle fan then, are you?
