I have been reading a majority of this thread and I am really interested in all the info and recommendations being presented. Has business changed for you guys with the release of Rock Band 3 and if it has, does it involve changing A/V settings, equipment, ect.? I am looking to venture into Rock Band Night and I have the funds to do it as well as a large college age crowd but I don't have a clue where to start. Thanks for your time.

RB3 has not changed much on the Bar Night side. Switching to all instruments mode is a pain but it's getting easier. Hardly anybody is using the keyboard other than the "real Rock Band players" who know what's going on. It's really all about the songs on a Rock Band Night and most of the ones chosen so far are not RB3 or later songs and your casual bar goer doesn't know the difference.

If you plan on starting a Bar Night all it takes is the initiative. Get up and go out there to pitch the idea to your local bar or resturaunt. Since you are just starting, I would recommend offering the bar a "discounted" rate to start out until you can fine tune your set up and develop a community to help support the bar nights but that's up to you. Keep reading this thread because there is a lot of good advice in here to help start you off. Good luck!

I'm currently in talks with a bar in Minneapolis to start hosting a karaoke night. They have a small PA / projector / and spare TV that they have used in the past for small tournaments...but if things pan out I would like to invest in a better video setup, ideally something like RockBandAtlanta has (LCDs for each player). I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what to get (VGA splitters+adapters, moniter stands, any particular screens, etc...)

Also how has RB3 changed the audio setup needed? I noticed that in All Instruments Mode it seems impossible to get to any vocal options (to turn down the in-game mics). I'm assuming this would be a problem with mixing the vocals in live via the mixer?

Finally, it seems like the page for RockYourBar program has disappeared. Is the program dead or just lost in the website reshuffling?

Everybodies Set up is a little different. Some prefer VGA, some go with HDMI, and some (like me) go with both component and composite. There is no right or wrong way to split up a video signal or get the video to the players, it just depends on you preference.

I run my system usning VGA as it is the cheapest setup. I buy used 17 to 19 in monitors connected to a 2 in 8 out vga splitter. this allows me to run 4 monitors for each band menber. (I placed the keyboard infront of the singer spot as keyboard has not taken off yet so it's there to look good. this also allows me to connect to the bar projector so the audance can see whats going on. the 2 in alows for me to swich to standard Karaoke with a flip of a switch and mic. the show runs very smooth when i have Old school karaoke in between rock band sets. as it gives me time to setup for the next band.

I can get 3 old 19" LCDs from work ATM, so I think I might have to settle for a 1x4 splitter. You think it's a big deal if the singer has to share one of the guitar-player's screens? Otherwise I would have to use a separate non-powered 2-way splitter to let the projector / vocalist screens use the 4th splitter spot.

Im still at a loss for how cheaply mount the screens at a reasonable height as well.

the $90 bucks is worth the invesment as your cost of monitors are fairly cheep. to start you shouldn't worry about the singer sharing with a guitar. Eventully get another screen once you up and running. Also you will need to think about what if's. your in a bar full of people drinking. accidents will happen. you should look at having one spare device ie monitor guitars ect as you run your show. Now for my trade secret mounting LCD's. go to a music store and by a composers music stand. I pay $40 dollors in canada I'm sure you can get them even cheaper. You will see how easy it is to modify these to become a LCD stand.

LOL! That is the exact same "trade secret" I used to mount our Drummer TV! Except I stuck the whole stand through the top of a real bass drum so when it sits in front of the rock band drum kit it looks like a "real drum set" on the stage.
