I just wanted to join everyone here and say how happy and relieved I am about this great news. Congratulations Harmonix, and above all, thank you for all the joy you provide us with your games. We all know that these are hard times for music games, they're not as popular as they used to be. But you have a very supportive community here, and I think you can count on us. Keep on bringing us good music, make us discover new tunes, again and again, and we will follow. Because Rock will never die.

I'll chime in with my own statement of relief. Whew! Also, a hearty "well done" to HMX because you are back behind the wheel again and the best people to be there.
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research: he who [edit] nuns will later join the church.

    Hey Everybody,

Thanks for all your awesome support and well wishes. It's an exciting time, for realz.

Quick update: For some reason the title of this thread was edited to be "Response to Questions about Viacom Selling Harmonix back to Harmonix" which was probably an offhand attempt at a joke from one of our delightful moderators, but has led to a little bit of confusion. We (Harmonix Music Systems) have not "bought ourselves back". As announced, we were sold to Columbus Nova, an investment management firm. We're sorry for any confusion caused by that title.
I perform the greatest karaoke rendition of Born To Run that you'll ever hear. And that is no lie.

John said that HMX was independent again.

    Is that not the case?

Or is the new owners 'hands off' when it comes to what you guys can and can't do?

    Congrats HMX.

Now, I just hope that it wasn't Viacom's influence that allowed them to score some of the major artists. If so, I fear that the level of DLC may suffer.
Still waiting for an 80's Hair Band pack of NUMEROUS artists.

    Huh.

Nobody saw this coming. An investment firm?

They got over 2 billion in assets, so I reckon that's good.
