I have family who live around Detroit who can pretty much attest to that,although according to them he was really nice before he blew up.One of my cousins used to go to the shelter during his heyday there,and met him a couple times.

On-stage can be written off as an act. I'd prefer not to pass judgment without eyewitness accounts of off-stage behavior.
