Well, that's depressing... I'll do my best not to let Lucid Charting fall away like the rest. That rhymed, I apologise.

There's been more groups pop up since that list was made. ThatAuthoringGroup, TriumphantBass, AGLsolutions, etc.

But out of that original list yeah, there's not that many left.

I wouldn't say there is 29 different groups running now. Probably closer to 15 or so, but my point from April still stands.

If you're not in this because you love Rock Band and music in general, then once you find out how hard it really is to get a track, get it authored, and then through the process, you'll flame out quick.

You being the general you and not directed at you specifically

Haha, yeah, I understand the generalisation. I've been planning this for at least 6 months now. I am entirely serious about delivering content to the RBN. Specifically, Australian music.

I'm in the minority when it comes to Aussie Rock Band enthusiasts... not sure if you've heard, but there's hardly any support or marketing for RB down here. I've done everything I can to support HMX, ever since the GH2 days. I had to import RB2 from the UK because it was released here much later than in the US. I've got a Yamaha kit hooked up to play pro-drums. I also keep as up to date as possible on related RB news, DLC releases, etc., just like you guys do!

I'm studying technical sound production, I'll have my advanced diploma by the end of this year. I'm ambitious and have clear short-term goals. I've got contacts in the industry and I know how insanely difficult it can be.

Not only do these traits apply to myself, but also with the other few members at Lucid Charting. We're all Rock Band and music enthusiasts, and we know our stuff. We're all incredibly passionate and supportive of the Australian music scene, we want to do this for the musicians we look up to and associate with each and every day.

I had to do this, at least to the point where I can say we achieved a milestone, something we've never done before. I will not let it crumble!

Awesome! Good luck and we'll see you on the creators forums!

If you ever need any tips or pointers on authoring don't be afraid to speak up at the forums. There's a lot of talented and experienced authors over there who are more than happy to help!

I'll definitely see you guys there! There's already a song or two that I need help with, mainly with harmonies, but once we get around to authoring it I'll jump on the Creators' forums and seek some exert advice. Thanks!

But the vast majority of those were never real groups to begin with. Here is data based on rbnreleases.com (there was data missing for maybe 40ish songs). This assumes the groups correctly listed their company name on the submissions.

'Authoring Groups' with 0 songs: 10

    101 Distribution
    Accelerando Studios
    Band Author
    Bronze Serpent Studios
    Electric Flannel
    Hit Play Creations
    Lehakat Rock
    Notesferatu
    Rhythmography
    Rock Your Own Band

Groups with less than 10 releases, many times of single bands: 8 . There are quite a few individual charters with many more songs
    Bombsite Studios - 1
Interactive Music Productions - 1 (and that was Fat Kid)
LittleCowDog - 3 (all one band)
    Metalcharter - 3
digitalrocksongs - 3 (all one band)
    Corbomite - 6
    Noble Rhythm - 8
    RedRockCharters - 8

Authoring Groups who put out more than 10 songs and are no longer with us: 2
    Explossive Kitty - 13
    Wave Group - 42

Looking at it like that, we have only lost 1-2 charting groups that made any dent. We have seen a lot of self charting bands and individuals (RideTheLights, TheFuture15, Mickstafa, ethicalpaul, asiansteev ...) come and go, but from what I would consider a true 'Authoring Group' standpoint we haven't lost much that stuck around for any length of time. Not to mention adding TAG.

Of course I really would like some of those guys mentioned above to make a comeback, they put out some good stuff.

I think their last release was December of last year. They put out a lot of stuff I loved. As far as % of a groups tracks bought they were probably highest for me.
