Well, the first time I saw Pulp Fiction was on the recommendation of a friend, a year or so. I had no idea who Tarantino was, and while I had heard the name and recognized some of the lines, I wasn't really aware of its status. I highly enjoyed it; I don't think it ever tries to be more than what it is. Very unapologetic. You could say the same about Kill Bill, of course, but that lacks the down-to-earth quality.
Honestly, what I think I might have liked best about Pulp was the black comedy. I find myself laughing a lot in that movie. I don't really like Ebert, though he does put it well.
"QT finds a way to make the words humorous without ever seeming to ask for a laugh. Like them, he combines utilitarian prose with flights of rough poetry and wicked fancy"
I'm not gonna say it's the best movie ever made or anything, because I'm very, very unsuited for something like that. Just an extremely entertaining film.
